After a comprehensive nationwide search, the city of Kennewick has selected Michael Heffner to lead the Kennewick Fire Department as chief starting Oct. 16. “I am looking forward to engaging and supporting the team members who inspire me every day by modeling true honor, selflessness and competence.” Michael Heffner said. Heffner has served the city as deputy fire chief since 2021. He stepped into the interim fire chief role after former Chief Chad Michael retired this summer. “Chief Heffner distinguished himself throughout the selection process,” said City Manager Erin Erdman. “Heffner has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to our fire department. Today City of Kennewick staff and public officials joined Benton County, WA Government for the grand opening of their Moderate Risk Waste Facility located at 1709 S Ely Street in the heart of Kennewick! We hopped on the facilities’ high-end scale to see just how much support we brought. Can anyone guess how many pounds of Kennewick were in attendance!?
