After a comprehensive nationwide search, the city of Kennewick has selected Michael Heffner to lead the Kennewick Fire Department as chief starting Oct. 16. “I am looking forward to engaging and supporting the team members who inspire me every day by modeling true honor, selflessness and competence.” Michael Heffner said. Heffner has served the city as deputy fire chief since 2021. He stepped into the interim fire chief role after former Chief Chad Michael retired this summer. “Chief Heffner distinguished himself throughout the selection process,” said City Manager Erin Erdman. “Heffner has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to our fire department. His promotion to interim fire chief allowed him to further showcase his capabilities, and we are confident that his experience and deep understanding of our organization make him the best choice to lead us forward.” Join us in congratulating Chief Heffner!
