Last week, the Novato City Council presented a proclamation to Gosia Woodfin recognizing her 17 years of service with the City. 👏 Serving as an engineer and project manager in Public Works, Gosia has successfully managed nearly 60 Capital Improvement Program projects totaling over $42 million. While many of her projects focused on streets, transportation and drainage, she also oversaw important parks and facilities improvements. "Working as an engineer for the City for over 17 years has been a privilege. Every time I drive, bike or walk, I bump into one of those 60 projects," Gosia said proudly as she accepted her proclamation. "I would like to give a shoutout to all of my coworkers. It has been a great privilege working with each and every one of you." Throughout her career, Gosia played a key role in every stage of project delivery, from conception, budgeting, planning, and permitting through design, construction and completion. Her positive, “can-do” attitude, made her an invaluable member of Team Novato. The City of Novato extends its heartfelt gratitude to Gosia for her dedication and service to our community, and we wish her all the best in her retirement. 🫶

Over the past few months, our Public Works crews have been performing weed abatement at various locations around town. This work goes beyond keeping Novato clean and beautiful—it plays a vital role in protecting our community, especially during fire season. Dry grasses and overgrown vegetation can fuel wildfires, so proactively clearing these hazards reduces wildfire risk. Weed abatement also enhances visibility along roadways, preserves the health of native landscapes, and helps prevent the spread of invasive plant species. 🌾 These critical efforts are made possible thanks to your support of Measure M. Approved by voters in November 2024, Measure M is a 0.75% local sales tax that directly funds community-identified priorities, including public safety and emergency response, roadway repairs, and parks and facilities maintenance. 🚨🛣️🌳 Keep an eye out for more upcoming and ongoing projects supported by Measure M funding throughout our community. The City remains committed to long-term fiscal sustainability and efficiently delivering essential services. With Measure M, we can continue to preserve and enhance the Novato our community cherishes – creating great places and spaces for everyone to enjoy. Help keep Novato clean, safe and vibrant! 👉 Report overgrown weeds, potholes, traffic signal problems and other non-emergency needs directly to our Public Works Department by submitting a service request at novato.org/servicerequest. Your request will be routed directly to the appropriate staff member for handling.
