The Facilities Division of the Public Works Department is actively seeking an individual who is punctual, a self-starter, and able to work independently. Under the supervision of the Facilities Superintendent, the Facilities Custodian will be part of a team maintaining office buildings throughout the City and the Tukwila Community Center totaling up to 150,000 sq. ft of space. The schedule for this position is Sunday through Thursday from 12:00 am (midnight) to 8:00 am and is represented by the Teamsters Local 763. The position will remain open and continuous until filled with a first review date of October 17, 2025.     Tukwila Labor Standards Office: The 2026 minimum wage in Tukwila will increase to $21.65 per hour, effective January 1, 2026. The new rate represents a 2.61% increase over the current year. The annual adjustment, tied to inflation, is required by the Tukwila Minimum Wage Ordinance. The Ordinance is the result of a citizen-led initiative passed by voters in 2022 and became law July 1, 2023. The new rate is determined by the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) for the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue area, as published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. **Employers Required to pay Tukwila’s Minimum Wage: Confirm you’re covered by the Ordinance on our webpage  TukwilaWa.gov/MinimumWage **Employer Obligations: Employers must certify compliance each year by January 31. The City is not required to send reminders, so please calendar this deadline. See other requirements on our web page. **Applicability: Tukwila minimum wage applies to hourly-paid employees, as defined by Tukwila Municipal Code 5.63 – Labor Standards for Certain Employees. There are no wage exceptions for minors or part-time vs. full-time staff. **Poster Requirement: Employers are required to post an updated Notice to Employees flyer in a conspicuous place at their establishment by December 2.   • Are you a City of Tukwila resident looking for an opportunity to volunteer? The City of Tukwila Police Department is seeking at least (2) two community members to work alongside the Police Chief to meet the requirements of the Law Enforcement Training and Community Safety Act (LETCSA). A minimum of two (2) non-law enforcement community representatives will be assigned to each independent investigative team (IIT) to: a. Participate directly in the vetting, interviewing, and/or selection of the independent investigative team (IIT) investigators. (Existing teams will have until January 2021 to provide necessary information about the qualifications of current IIT investigators to the non-law enforcement community representatives for review.)  b. Review conflict of interest statements submitted within 72 hours of the commencement of each investigation by the investigators;  c. Be present at the briefings with the involved agency(s) chief or sheriff;  d. Have access to the investigation file when it is completed;  e. Be provided a copy of all press releases and communication to the media prior to release; and  f. Review notification of equipment use of the involved agency.  g. The Facilities Maintenance & Operations Superintendent has accountability for coordinating and supervising the operations of the facilities maintenance and custodial teams in the Fleet and Facilities division of the Public Works Department. In coordination with department leadership and other city staff, the Facilities Superintendent oversees the maintenance and operations of 300,000 square feet of administrative, operational, and special purpose facilities. Our current facilities portfolio includes 23 buildings, 19 sites, and an annual operating budget of $3 million.
