Words that connect. Stories that heal. Voices that rise. 🌟 As we continue to celebrate National Arts & Humanities Month, we shine a light on San Diego’s Poet Laureate, Paola Capó-García – our civic poet, educator, and community builder. With a background in poetry, teaching, and activism, Paola brings a powerful voice to our city - inspiring public connection through language and championing poetry as both personal and communal art. 📚 Her work doesn’t just live on the page, it lives in civic spaces, neighborhoods, and hearts across San Diego. 💬 “Every day, I dream of new ways to make poetry feel more accessible and necessary.” — Paola #PoetLaureateSD #PaolaCapoGarcia #NAHM #SanDiegoArts

🎉 Congratulations to our Economic Development Real Estate Deputy Director Lucy Contreras and Mayor Gloria’s Community Engagement Deputy Director Lucero, for being named among the Top 50 Latino Leaders of Influence by the San Diego Business Journal, in partnership with the San Diego County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce! This well-deserved recognition celebrates Latino leaders who are shaping the future of our region through innovation, community impact and professional excellence. 🌟 Lucy brings more than two decades of public sector experience and deep expertise in commercial real estate development, project management and urban planning. At the City, Lucy provides strategic leadership over a portfolio of 1,600+ properties spanning 123,000 acres, and more than 900 agreements generating $90 million in annual revenue. Her leadership, alongside the Economic Development Director, has been pivotal in projects like Midway Rising and the 101 Ash affordable housing development. 🌟 Lucero has played a key role in advancing initiatives that strengthen San Diego’s underserved communities and cross-border relations. From supporting the revitalization of the Old Logan Heights Library to leading binational outreach in San Ysidro and Otay Mesa, Lucero is a driving force behind inclusive engagement. She also played a key role in helping residents with ongoing challenges like the Tijuana River Valley crisis and in shaping Mayor Gloria’s Executive Order on Community Safety and Immigrant Rights, reinforcing San Diego’s commitment to immigrant communities. 👏 Thank you, Lucy and Lucero, for your leadership, dedication and the positive change you bring to our City every day! #Top50LatinoLeadersofInfluence #PublicService
