Ms. Nigar Arpadarai and Mr. Dan Ioschpe are the Climate High-Level Champions for #COP29 and #COP30.
About us
At the COP 21 United Nations climate change conference in Paris, governments agreed that mobilizing stronger and more ambitious climate action is urgently required to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. To connect the work of governments with the many voluntary and collaborative actions taken by cities, regions, businesses and investors, nations decided to appoint two Climate Change High-Level Champions. The champions work focuses on two crucial areas: 1. Engage with interested Parties and non-Party stakeholders: This work builds on existing initiatives and supports new and more geographically diverse initiatives. Focus is placed on connecting initiatives and coalitions with national action plans such as nationally determined contributions (NDCs) to the Paris Agreement. This helps bringing more transparency, with result tracking and lends demonstrable credibility to climate action. 2. Input from the champions efforts to mobilize action helps the secretariat organize technical expert meetings and, in collaboration with the Executive Secretary and the current and incoming Presidents of the Conference of the Parties, coordinate annual high-level events to spur even greater ambition and action.

Last Thursday the #BuildingToCOP Coalition hosted the second Forum and Audrey Nugent was joined Dan Ioschpe, Maria Clara Nascimento, Alice Bond and Felipe Faria to discuss where we’re headed. If you missed the Forum, watch the full recording here: https://lnkd.in/dFMXGkfe Here are some takeaways from the panelists: 🟡 Dan Ioschpe, High Level Climate Champion, believes the buildings and construction sector must move from pledges to real implementation and measurable impact. He reiterated that we need collaborative action and leadership to turn existing initiatives into tangible results that drive sustainable growth and resilience worldwide. 🟡 Maria Clara Nascimento, AXIS 4 Focal Point, COP30 Presidency, highlighted that COP30’s Action Agenda is focused on shifting from dialogue to implementation and turning climate commitments into measurable real-world impacts. She urged participants to share proven solutions through platforms like the Granary of Solutions and engage in collaborative action plans that will drive progress beyond COP30. 🟡 Alice Bond, from WorldGBC, explained that 2025 is a critical year for updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), and countries have set their climate targets for 2035. She shared that WorldGBC’s NDC Scorecard identifies policy gaps and opportunities and stressed that strong, actionable NDCs can drive investment and implementation in the built environment. 🟡 Felipe Faria, from Green Building Council Brasil, showcased how the GBC used the NDC Scorecard to align national building policies with climate goals, strengthen partnerships with ministries, and embed sustainability in financial and energy regulations. He emphasised the power of collaboration and practical projects to advance resilience, decarbonisation, and public engagement ahead of COP30 in Brazil. 🟡 Audrey Nugent from WorldGBC, emphasised the importance of positioning the built environment as a critical climate solution in the lead-up to COP30 and using forums like this to unite state and non-state actors toward a zero-emission, efficient, and resilient built environment for all. If you want to find out how the Coalition will show up at COP30, then register for the third Forum here: https://lnkd.in/due7mckx #BeBoldOnBuildings #BuildingTheTransition
