When Juan Combariza came in, he thought: let’s be a bit different for once. cside talks a lot about client-side attacks and how unknowing visitor’s browsers are used to create havoc. How companies face scrutiny because of client-side incidents on their website, how North Korean hackers try to get into your company etc. All very stressful discomforting things to think about. We try to prevent issues, that’s why we tell these horror stories. But Juan Combariza found an alternative method, issues fixed and stress avoided. Welcome to the team!

On the 25th, the UK's Internet Age Verification rules came into play. But what does it mean for cyber security? In short: it opens up yet another new attack surface. Users will turn to VPNs. BBC already reported a massive surge in App Store downloads. A rise in demand usually leads to a rise in supply. This will lead to new (and possibly intentionally malicious) apps and browser extensions to be built. PII leaks. Selfies, IDs and credit card details are needed in these verification methods. All this information is naturally subject to leaking and skimming attacks. 3rd party SDKs. Platforms are using these 3rd party tools to build the age verification systems. A classic target for supply chain attacks. APIs and backend systems. If an API is misconfigured or unmonitored, a breach waiting to happen.
