Amy Miller, SHRM-SCP, Senior Manager of CVP’s Workforce Ready Solutions Hub, presented at the Community Mental Health Association of Michigan’s (CMHAM) 26th Annual Substance Use and Co-Occurring Disorder Hybrid Conference. 1️⃣ Session 1: “Beyond Recovery: Using GPRA Data to Measure the Motivation for Employment Searching in SUD Services” Presented with Danielle Hicks, PhD, MSW, MSCJ and Madison Magness of Wayne State University, who provided historical context for GPRA. Amy shared CVP’s analysis, providing a snapshot of key factors that influence an individual’s employment status, including demographics and behavioral health, and highlighted how these factors impact the ability to obtain and retain employment. Wayne State presented peer support data, while Amy described why peer supports are critical for supporting employment outcomes. 2️⃣ Session 2: “Recovery-Focused Employment Support: Creating Inclusive Workplaces for Job Seekers in Recovery” Presented with Nicki Gabel of the MPHI and Marney Winfield of 217 Recovery, Amy opened the session by emphasizing how provider-employer partnerships are critical for sustained employment and contribute to stronger outcomes at every level of the ecological model, demonstrating the ripple effect of employment. Nicki and Marney showcased how the Michigan Recovery Friendly Workplace Initiative, partnerships with Recovery Community Organizations, and provider-driven strategies are reshaping organizational culture and creating meaningful employment opportunities for individuals in recovery. CVP is proud to bridge research and practice to support stronger recovery ecosystems, foster provider-employer collaboration, and create meaningful employment pathways across Michigan.
