Across Ghana, young entrepreneurs are creating value by transforming local crops into competitive agritech start-ups and agribusinesses. The Kosmos Innovation Center Ghana gave them the platform to build sustainable companies that address systemic food challenges. During our tenure leading KIC Ghana, DAI helped cultivate a generation of innovators whose achievements laid the foundation for the KIC Senegal and KIC Mauritania programs we are now leading. CNN showcases how these ventures are reshaping the sector: https://lnkd.in/eKt5wB2Y Kosmos Innovation Center Kosmos Innovation Center Senegal

What does it take to make clean energy access viable in refugee settlements? Access to clean energy in refugee settlements is one of development’s toughest challenges. The SMILES project has shown that when businesses are given the space to test, adapt, and grow, they can succeed even in fragile markets. By co-investing with BrightLife and ILF, SMILES helped turn solar power and clean cookstoves into commercially viable solutions that improve lives today and will continue to do so long after the project ends. In a two-day retreat in Lagos organized by the EUSDGN programme, INEC and National Assembly leaders came together to review the Electoral Act 2022. The retreat, chaired by the INEC Chairman and legislative committee heads, produced bold proposals from diaspora and early voting, to greater INEC autonomy, and affirmative action seats for women and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). Beyond legislation, DAI also advanced inclusive governance. Through the EU-SDGN programme, our Team Lead joined a national radio series with TAF Africa, spotlighting the importance of disability inclusion in elections. These efforts continue to contribute shaping Nigeria’s electoral future strengthening laws, institutions, and participation to build credible and inclusive elections. We are delighted to report that DAI will implement the U.K. Government-funded Ukraine Illicit Finance Capacity Development Project (UCIF). UCIF will contribute to Ukraine’s efforts to constrain illicit finance and organised crime by supporting the Government of Ukraine, Ukrainian and international financial institutions, law enforcement agencies, and others to address key areas of reform in Ukraine’s financial ecosystem. Such reforms will be critical in maintaining the confidence of domestic and international investors and enabling support for post-war reconstruction. Our implementing partners on UCIF are The Centre for Finance & Security at Royal United Services Institute and the Center for Financial Integrity. https://lnkd.in/e6ZgPAGn
