🍂 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗯𝗲 & 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗦𝗲𝗮 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 — 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗺𝗻 𝗘𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘄! Autumn arrives with new projects, open calls, and fresh opportunities across our Lighthouse. In this edition #DaWetRest was highlighted on: 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 “𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀” (𝗩𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗮, 𝟯–𝟰 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁): Our partner Scortel Ltd. promoted DaWetRest in bilateral meetings with business, academia, and authorities. New open-access paper by Zlatko Nedić et al. on “𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗶𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗯𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝘁𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗞𝗼𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗶 𝗥𝗶𝘁.” It establishes a baseline for the Middle Danube Demo to assess restoration outcomes. 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗻 & 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝗡𝘆𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗴, 𝟮𝟯–𝟮𝟰 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁): DaWetRest coordinator Ekaterina Batchvarova (CAWRI-BAS) presented our work in the “Scaling Impact” workshop; the University of Pannonia showcased our citizen science activities. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 #𝟲 (𝟭𝟬 𝗢𝗰𝘁): Focus on Governance & Policy for enabling wetland restoration, with insights from the Lower Danube and Danube Delta demos. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗮𝗪𝗲𝘁𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗣 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗧𝘂𝗯𝗲! 🌍💧 Our latest session of the Danube and Black Sea Lighthouse Community of Practice is now live, focusing on the 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝘁𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. The discussions were very interesting, with a strong emphasis on understanding that: 🔹Restoring wetlands is as much a governance challenge as it is an ecological one. 🌍 𝗗𝗮𝗪𝗲𝘁𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗗𝗘𝗪𝗘𝗦 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗮 The 20th SDEWES Centre Conference, held from 5-10 October 2025 in Dubrovnik, Croatia, brought together 785 participants from 68 countries to discuss sustainable solutions for global challenges. At the conference, #DaWetRest was showcased by our partners from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, both in the SDEWES Project Exchange event and through the presentation of “𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻-𝗡𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗛𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸”, which focused on sustainable solutions for carbon-neutral food and energy systems. A special session titled “𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀, 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿” was also organized by Prof. Hrvoje Mikulčić and Dr. Filip Jurić, UZ-FSB. The session focused on the transformative potential of Blue Energy in driving the sustainable energy transition, while also exploring its alignment with the EU Mission to Restore Our Oceans and Waters.
