Building Teams, Improving Lives
About us
DC SCORES creates neighborhood teams that give kids the confidence and skills to succeed on the playing field, in the classroom, and in life. We envision a DC where every child - no matter their family income - experiences the joys of childhood: sports, arts, service, and being part of a team. Where every child - no matter their family circumstances - is empowered to find academic success and grow into an emotionally and physically healthy teen and adult. Where every neighborhood supports and celebrates its children and their accomplishments on and off the playing field.

Big news for our Poet-Athletes! 🎉⚽ DC SCORES is proud to announce that the New Balance Foundation has invested $300,000 in the The SCORES Network to expand our award-winning after-school soccer, poetry, and service-learning programs ahead of the #2026FIFAWorldCup. This investment — which brings NBF's total investment in SCORES affiliates to $1,475,000 — will strengthen our capacity to serve our Poet-Athletes across D.C. Our Poet-Athletes have been sporting their New Balance soccer jerseys this season, and we're grateful to have New Balance as our exclusive apparel sponsor. Thank you to the New Balance Foundation for believing in our Poet-Athletes and the power of soccer and poetry to transform lives! DC SCORES helped Natasha Dupee, M.Ed., MPH find her voice. Now, she's using her platform to advocate for DC residents. An alum of our program at Anne Beers Elementary School, Natasha Dupee was one of the first-ever The SCORES Network Poet-Athletes. She joined DC SCORES in 1998, just four years after our program was founded by a DC public school teacher in the aftermath of the 1994 World Cup. Today, Dupee is an elected representative, serving as an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner in Ward 7, and supports and advocates for women's issues as the Executive Director of DC MOWPI. 🗣️ "Being a poet-athlete, you realize that you have strength in taking a stance," says Dupee. "You can take a stance depending on your field position. You can also take a stance with your words." Learn more about Dupee's inspiring story and how DC SCORES is helping a new generation of Poet-Athletes find their voices: https://lnkd.in/eiQ7qEXG
