🎉 Congratulations to Professor Mariska Kret, Editor-in-Chief of Behaviour, on receiving the 2025 Dr. Hendrik Muller Prize from the KNAW - Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen (Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences). Professor Kret, a full professor of comparative psychology and affective neuroscience at Leiden University, leads the Comparative Psychology and Affective Neuroscience lab (#CoPAN). She is recognized for her pioneering interdisciplinary research into the origins and functioning of emotions – work that highlights the deep emotional connections shared by humans and other animals. The Dr. Hendrik Muller Prize is awarded biennially to a mid-career researcher in the Netherlands who has made an outstanding contribution to the humanities or social sciences. The €25,000 prize will be presented on 4 December 2025. 👀 We’re excited to see our report on how academics use social media featured in The Scholarly Kitchen! Based on responses from 1800 scholars worldwide, the report provides insights into the motivations and concerns of researchers across various disciplines and career stages. Findings show that social media continues to play an important role for academics, even as the social media landscape has become increasingly fractured and volatile over recent years. Today, we're launching two new science journals: Transport Phenomena (TP) and Open Transport (OT). With a little imagination, together they spell "teapot" – an object that unites three fundamental transport phenomena: heating, diffusion and flow. The fully hybrid TP and the open access OT follow the same style of editorship and scope, allowing contributors a chance to choose freely between two popular journal models and offering a new outlet to the transport community. Whichever one's your cup of tea, we invite you to explore these new publications!
