When it came to finding a lighting solution for the iconic Glass House (The Glass House), designers Philip Johnson and Richard Kelly flipped convention on its head – light from below is cast upward into a coned top, then reflected down and out. The upshot: a warm glow with zero bounce-back at night in a structure with all glass walls. Out of production for nearly 60 years, the Johnson/Kelly Lamp is being reissued by BassamFellows. New and only at DWR: Danish designer Helle Mardahl Studio’s exclusive collection of mouth-blown tableware and lighting serves up a refined take on her signature, candy-inspired designs. “The extraordinary in the ordinary, everyday world is what you get from these pieces,” says DWR Creative Director Omar Nobil. Foresight, instinct, and ingenuity – Florence Knoll had what it took to helm a powerhouse of modern design. She tapped Eero Saarinen to create a chair she could curl up in; challenged Richard Schultz to design outdoor furniture that could withstand the salty environment of her Florida home; and she licensed and manufactured Mies van der Rohe’s Barcelona Chair long before it was an icon. Florence’s discerning taste also led her to design her own furniture – and her Italian-made credenza, designed in 1961, stands as a testament to her own talent and vision for the future of modern design. It’s Helle Mardahl Studio’s candy-colored world – we’re just living in it. This week, friends gathered in NYC to preview Danish designer Helle Mardahl’s DWR-exclusive collection of tableware, celebrating the beauty of mouth-blown glass. In 2020, Danish designer Lise Vester turned the beach into her studio. Carving out her ideal posture in sand, she translated that to paper, then to polystyrene blocks for ergonomic testing, and later to stainless steel – all to form the Dream View Bench, an invitation to lean back and gaze up in perfect repose. Tap into her human-centered design for Muuto and watch the full interview: https://lnkd.in/eZxMB8We Video by Rune Buch
