  • Earlier this year, we celebrated one year of NoHo 5050 — a permanent supportive housing site in North Hollywood designed for survivors of gender-based violence. With 40 residents now calling NoHo 5050 home, we’re reminded of the power of safety, community, and care. 💜 As Jacqueline, one of our residents, beautifully shared: “Sometimes we just need that friend that cares about us a little bit more.” This #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth, we honor every survivor and the community that stands beside them. #EndDV

  • DWC is honored to be recognized by Rick J. Caruso for our proven approach to ending homelessness for women. With a 98% housing retention rate, DWC shows that safety, community, and care create lasting stability.   Rosa’s Place, our newest supportive housing community, will open in 2027 to welcome 97 women home—transforming lives and strengthening Los Angeles for generations to come.

  • A huge thank you to the generous donors who helped give special “thank you” bags to our Gala volunteers!   Delicious, wholesome Granola Bakes from Cooper Street Snacks and refreshing electrolyte Stick Packs from Vitalyte Sports Nutrition gave folks energy they needed to support such a special event. Plant Growing Kits from Seeds In a Cup provided a keepsake that tied in with our theme – Rooted in Resilience, Rising in Hope.

  • Downtown Women's Center reposted this

"After trauma, no one feels safe and without safety, rebuilding feels impossible. That's why community is at the center of everything we do at Downtown Women's Center" This unforgettable message was delivered by CEO, Amy Turk, at the 2025 Every Woman Housed Gala. Her words are a vital reminder of the reality for 22,000 women experiencing homelessness across Los Angeles tonight. The January wildfires showed us all how quickly life can change, but with community, there is hope and a path to stability. Watch Amy's powerful speech to understand why community is the key to ending homelessness for women in L.A.

  • This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we stand With Survivors, Always.   At our recent Domestic Violence and Housing Services Coalition (DVHSC) Summit, we honored six incredible survivor advocates with Lifetime Achievement Awards for using their voices to educate, spread awareness, and uplift others.   In this video, Millie, Sonya, Suzette Shaw, Tiffany Duvernay-Smith, Teniecka Drake, and Pamela Crenshaw share their Oríkì, words of praise and power from Yoruba tradition that call forth identity, resilience, and hope.   Each Oríkì is a declaration: I am still here. I am worthy. I am powerful.   #DVAM #WithSurvivorsAlways #EveryWomanHoused #EndDV #Oriki #SurvivorVoices

  • We're still glowing from last night's Every Woman Housed Gala!    Thank you ABC7 Los Angeles for capturing this beautiful moment honoring the incomparable Sheryl Lee Ralph with our Voices of Change Award for her decades of advocacy and impact through The D.I.V.A. Foundation.   Together, we celebrated nearly 50 years of DWC's revolutionary mission to end homelessness for women because "when women are met with dignity, respect, and true support, miracles happen."
