Our mummy’s not the only one all wrapped up— 👁️ 80% of clinical trials are delayed because of poor recruitment! That’s a scary number we’re working hard to change. Comment Boo! if you are a DRCR Investigator who recruited a participant this week. #Halloween #ClinicalResearch #DRCRRetinaNetwork #VisionResearch
DRCR Retina Network
Public Health
Conducting collaborative research that improves vision and quality of life for people with retinal diseases.
About us
The DRCR Retina Network conducts collaborative, high-quality clinical research to improve vision and quality of life for people with retinal diseases. While the Network emphasizes clinical trials, it also supports other types of retina-focused research. Established in 2002 and renamed in 2019 to reflect an expanded focus beyond diabetic retinopathy, the Network includes over 140 sites and 400+ physicians across the U.S. and Canada. Funded by the National Eye Institute (NEI), part of the NIH, the Network is led by three core centers: the Chairs' Office, Coordinating Center, and NEI.

Don’t miss the accompanying editorial by our very own, Adam Glassman! https://lnkd.in/eaHe-V5Y Between 2005 and 2024, the annual incidence of pickleball-related ocular injuries presenting to US emergency departments increased substantially, with an estimated 1262 cases reported in 2024 alone. Patients aged 50 years or older accounted for 70% of injuries, with severe outcomes including retinal detachment, orbital fracture, globe trauma, and hyphema. https://ja.ma/47unYMG

Proud to share Dr. Christina Weng’s discussion on Protocol AO, a pivotal DRCR Retina Network trial exploring home OCT monitoring in neovascular AMD. This study highlights how remote imaging could transform treatment approaches and shape the future of retina clinical trials. #AMD #HomeOCT #VisionResearch #Retina Dr. Christina Weng, Professor of Ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine and Chair of DRCR Retina Network Protocol AO, discusses the pivotal trial evaluating home OCT monitoring in neovascular age-related macular degeneration. The conversation reviews the study’s rationale, methodology, and key findings, with emphasis on how home-based imaging could transform treatment paradigms, refine injection strategies, and inform the future design of retina clinical trials. #maculardegeneration #homeOCT #AMD #retina #eyesoninnovation #remotemonitoring #AI #digitalhealth The Retina Channel Podcast: E90- DRCR Retina Protocol AO- Home OCT for Management of Wet AMD- Dr. Christina Wengtheretinachannel.com

Protocol AF Eighty-five % of participants have been enrolled in this study, which is exploring whether fenofibrate can help slow the progression of diabetic retinopathy. 🎉 👩⚕️📢 Investigators and Coordinators, as you screen the final participants, remember: 📌 Patients currently receiving treatment in one eye may still be eligible—since study-provided ranibizumab can be used for both study and non-study eyes. 🌎 Every eligible participant helps researchers get closer to new treatment options for protecting vision. 💙
