Sopoong Ventures announced on the 27th that it successfully concluded the Jeonbuk Climate Tech Demo Day 'SWITCH' Ground Stage, a new track for 2024, in collaboration with Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province and Jeonbuk Techno Park on the 26th. At the SWITCH Ground Stage of the Jeonbuk Climate Tech Demo Day, 'Ace Inventor', which develops transparent and flexible solar cell modules, won the grand prize. The Jeonbuk Climate Tech Demo Day SWITCH is a competition organized by Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, Jeonbuk Techno Park, and Soupung Ventures, aimed at supporting climate-tech startups in the region, which is gaining attention as a climate-tech hub. This competition targeted climate-tech startups with a valuation under 10 billion KRW and fewer than seven years of operation. The grand prize went to the Ace Inventor team (which develops color, transparent, flexible solar cell modules). Additionally, the Best Award was given to the Three Eye Solutions team (which provides data-driven solutions for industrial non-destructive component testing), while the Dynamic Industry team (which recycles old solar panels to recover high-purity precious metals) and the Aron's team (which provides an IoT-based electric vehicle charging system integration solution) won the Excellence Award. The winning teams received prizes of 10 million KRW for the grand prize, 5 million KRW for the Best Award, and 3 million KRW each for the Excellence Award. The startups that participated in the 2024 Jeonbuk Climate Tech Demo Day SWITCH Ground Stage IR Pitching include △Prediction △Mobilate △Cheongse △Kkun △Dynamic Industry △Five Nine △Elect △Ace Inventor △Three Eye Solutions △A-Labs △Aron, for a total of 11 teams. Kim Kwan-young, Governor of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, remarked, "The province is optimized for the climate-tech industry, including agricultural bio, renewable energy, secondary batteries, and mobility. We will continue to provide policy support to help excellent teams that participated in this competition grow within our province." Meanwhile, Jeonbuk Climate Tech Demo Day SWITCH is held in two tracks: the Growth Stage (for climate-tech startups valued over 100 billion KRW) and the Ground Stage (for startups with a valuation under 100 billion KRW). The teams that reach the finals of this competition will receive IR deck coaching and pitching strategy support through Soupung Ventures, a venture capital firm specializing in the climate sector. Additionally, they will have networking opportunities with accelerators (AC), venture capitalists (VC), large corporations, mid-sized enterprises, and research institutions for PoC collaboration and R&D partnerships.

The "2024 Jeonbuk TechBiz Partnering" event was held in collaboration with Jeonbuk Technopark. Since its inception in 2016, when the Jeonbuk Research and Development Special Zone promotion project was officially launched, Jeonbuk TechBiz Partnering has become an annual event that aims to discover promising technologies and match them with demand companies, serving as a representative technology transfer and commercialization event in the Jeonbuk region. This year, eight new public institutions and research organizations participated: the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, the Rural Development Administration, the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, the Korea Institute of Science and Technology, the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, the Korea Biotechnology Industry Organization, the Korea Carbon Industry Promotion Agency, and Jeonbuk National University. They introduced 43 promising technologies and 20 promising labs in strategic technology fields and conducted consultations with demand companies. In the investment consultation segment, seven venture capital firms, including Korea Technology Holdings, Inlight Ventures (operating the Research and Development Special Zone), and Kiros Venture Investment (operating the Jeonbuk Fund), held IR sessions and one-on-one consultations with special zone companies. Dynamic Industries, a research institute-based company in the Jeonbuk Special Zone, signed an investment contract worth 1.3 billion KRW, and it is expected to raise a total of 2 billion KRW in investments, including this one. Jeong Hee-kwon, Chairman of the Foundation for the Promotion of Research and Development Special Zones, stated, "We will spare no effort to support the commercialization of promising companies based on public technology, enhancing their competitiveness through joint technology development, promising technology transfer, and investment attraction, so they can expand globally."

The Foundation for the Promotion of Research and Development Special Zones announced that it held the "1st Shingyeokho Lotte Young Entrepreneur Award" on the 25th at the Lotte Tower Sky31 in Seoul, in collaboration with the Lotte Scholarship Foundation. The two foundations had previously signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to build a science and technology-based youth entrepreneurship ecosystem aimed at contributing to the development of the national and regional economy. This competition was organized as part of this agreement, with both organizations working together to discover young entrepreneurs with excellent entrepreneurial spirit and innovative technologies. During the competition, nine companies secured a total of 4.4 billion KRW in investments through various investor matches and mentoring. Notably, Elect, one of the Grand Prize-winning companies, secured 1.1 billion KRW in investment from Magna Investment, while Dynamic Industries, a finalist, signed an investment contract for 1.3 billion KRW with Inlight Ventures. The Foundation for the Promotion of Research and Development Special Zones plans to continue supporting the growth of the winning teams after the competition. Through the InnoPolis Campus support program, the foundation will assist with startup support and business item enhancement, and Inlight Ventures, which manages a 60 billion KRW fund, will provide exemptions from document screening for investment-linked programs and offer IR opportunities to promising companies. The Lotte Scholarship Foundation will assist the winning teams in forming networks with investment institutions and provide opportunities for business model presentations (IR) to help secure follow-up investments. Chung Hye-sun, Chairperson of the Lotte Scholarship Foundation, emphasized, "I hope many young entrepreneurs, or 'Little Shingyeokho,' who will inherit the entrepreneurial spirit of the late Shingyeokho, the founder of Lotte Group, will emerge to lead and revive the Korean economy." She stressed the importance of a relentless spirit of challenge. The 2024 Jeonbuk Climate Tech Demo Day, initiated in Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, a region gaining attention as a hub for climate tech, is a startup incubation program for climate tech companies. The New Track Demo Day will focus on climate tech startups with valuations under 10 billion KRW and those less than 7 years old. Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province is organizing this event to discover early-stage climate tech startups, provide opportunities for Proof of Concept (PoC) collaboration with companies and research institutes, and facilitate follow-up investment opportunities. Eleven early-stage climate tech startups will participate in the event. The participating startups in the IR pitch include Prediction, Mobil8, Cheongse, Kkeun, Dynamic Industry, FiveNine, Elect, Ace Inventor, S3I Solutions, A-Labs, and Aaron. A panel of five industry experts will serve as judges for the event, evaluating the participating teams on criteria such as market potential, technological feasibility, business viability, and team capabilities. In addition to the pitches, the keynote address will highlight Jeonbuk's efforts to attract and support climate tech startups and introduce the region's optimized industrial ecosystem for the development of the climate tech sector. In the Insight Speech session, Han Chang-wan, a lawyer from the law firm Bae, Kim & Lee, will present on the theme "Impact of the U.S. Presidential Election on Domestic Companies and Industries." Following that, Kim Seung-wan, CEO of the Next Association, will moderate a discussion with Han Chang-wan on opportunities within the climate tech industry. Meanwhile, Jeonbuk Climate Tech Demo Day 'SWITCH' consists of two tracks: the Growth Stage for climate tech startups with valuations over 100 billion KRW, and the Ground Stage (New Track) for startups with valuations under 100 billion KRW. The Center plans to support the participation of nine Korean startups at the "2024 Bengaluru Tech Summit," which will be held from November 19 for three days in Bengaluru, India. The "2024 Bengaluru Tech Summit" is India’s largest global startup expo, with 45 countries participating. The event will feature various programs, including product and service exhibitions, IR pitching, and local partner discovery. This participation is part of the "K-Startup Center (KSC)-India Program," organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and managed by the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development. The participating companies include Dynamic Industry (solar panel recycling process technology), Mershen (natural bio-material development), Yulak (laboratory information management system), Robus Company (climate change adaptation crop management technology), Banp (intelligent tire system-based vehicle operational efficiency improvement solution), Second Team (overseas developer matching platform), Callus Company (after-school internship platform), InnoFriends (URCODE smart manufacturing solution), and Turing (AI-based personalized math education service). Kang Young-jae, the head of Jeonbuk Center, stated, “The Jeonbuk Center has continuously opened doors in the Vietnamese and Indian markets, securing a strong network with them, and our collaboration with these markets is very robust.” He also added, "We will continue to work hard to ensure that the Jeonbuk Center’s capabilities become a key factor in the global market expansion of promising startups."

The MOU focuses on expanding mutual cooperation in various industrial sectors, including: ▲ Supporting Jeollabuk-do startups' entry into the Middle Eastern market ▲ Joint development of future high-potential industries ▲ Joint development of the Saemangeum Tourism Complex, among other areas. SRTIP is an emerging innovation cluster in the Middle East, located in Sharjah, the third emirate after Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the UAE. The park serves as a research and innovation hub for Sharjah’s transition to a knowledge-based economy, attracting international companies, startups, and academic institutions to respond to global challenges. Following the MOU, JETA organized a Private IR (Investor Relations) event aimed at expanding the Middle Eastern market, with seven leading companies from Jeollabuk-do presenting to SRTIP’s business development and marketing teams. The Jeollabuk-do Economic and Trade Promotion Agency, together with 10 local startups, participated in "BIBAN 2024" held in Saudi Arabia. "BIBAN 2024" is the largest international startup fair in the Middle East, hosted by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises since 2017. This year, the event is being held from the 5th to the 9th of November at the Riyadh Front Convention Center, with 127 countries and over 1,200 companies participating and approximately 145,000 visitors expected. From Jeollabuk-do, 10 companies took part, including Siqhan, Laparad, Dynamic Industry, CI Biomedical, SW Chemicals, FourSkin, Cosolous, PlastBio, AHES, and Jeongseok Chemical.
