Before 2008, workers in every state were guaranteed 26 weeks of unemployment insurance if they lost a job. Today, many states have cut back benefits, some to as little as 12 weeks. With the economy teetering, unemployment benefits are more important than ever. https://lnkd.in/g9GPGicR

The working people's think tank.
About us
The Economic Policy Institute (EPI) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank using the tools of economics for more than 30 years to defend and promote the interests of workers in economic policy debates at the national, state, and local level. EPI was created in 1986 to broaden discussions about economic policy to include the needs of low- and middle-income workers. EPI believes every working person deserves a good job with fair pay, affordable health care, and retirement security. To achieve this goal, EPI conducts research and analysis on the economic status of working America. EPI proposes public policies that protect and improve the economic conditions of low- and middle-income workers and assesses policies with respect to how they affect those workers.

How does your state protect you from wage theft? https://lnkd.in/gBCtEF49

Many states have weaker child labor laws than federal standards: In Idaho, 14-year-olds can work up to 54 hrs/week. In Iowa, 15-year-olds can work hazardous jobs. With Trump threatening to undo federal labor laws, states need to update their standards to protect kids. https://lnkd.in/g5i97Wi9

AK, CA, CO, ME, NY, and WA have done so. Has your state? Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eztccQmK

President Trump issued a $100,000 fee for H-1B visas.
