An enormous solar project was set to provide 6.2 gigawatts of clean power and 5.2 gigawatts of battery capacity—until it was canceled just last week. While the Trump administration is freezing and cancelling renewable and storage projects on public lands, it just opened up more than 13 million acres for coal mining. At a time when power demand continues to increase, “[the cancelation is] inconsistent with the law, but it’s also obviously inconsistent with what our country needs,” says EDF’s Ted Kelly. https://bit.ly/3KRPgns

It's #WorldFoodDay, a reminder that farming feeds the world 🌾 – and it’s also a major source of methane, a super-pollutant that warms the planet fast. Farmers are already facing tougher seasons: Droughts, heat waves and volatile weather that threaten harvests and livestock. EDF is partnering worldwide to help farmers expand resilient practices that cut methane, boost yields, and strengthen rural communities. We’re also building agriculture into national climate plans and ensuring farmers get the support to make the shift. 🎥 Watch the explainer with EDF's Andrew Hutson – part of our Road to COP30 series spotlighting global solutions on the path to Belém. #RoadToCOP30 #Methane #FoodSystems #Farmers #ClimateAction #COP30

On the last day of #HispanicHeritageMonth, we’re reflecting on 5 key takeaways from EcoMadres second annual summit—lessons we’ll carry forward this month and beyond. From demonstrating the compounded effects of climate change and pollution faced by Latino communities to teaching about the cultural resilience and empowering climate action that are possible when “everyday residents to see themselves as leaders and decision-makers,” the summit was a powerful way to celebrate the month! https://lnkd.in/eRY5-8SZ

We're congratulating the #Article64 Supervisory Body on its decision last week to officially adopt the long-awaited rules on #permanence. This is a huge win for nature and marks real progress towards our goal to reduce global emissions. It’s encouraging to see so many countries stand up to keep #nature in the process and ensure that widespread stakeholder feedback was heard. There’s still work ahead to strengthen how nature participates in Article 6.4 mechanism. Still, this decision lays a balanced, science-based foundation for implementation—with flexibility, innovation, and fairness built in. https://lnkd.in/eB6EwaJm #Article6 #CarbonMarkets #ClimateAction #NatureBasedSolutions #UNFCCC

“Seafood is one of the most powerful foods we have—it nourishes us with protein, nutrients and omegas. But beyond flavor and nutrition, what truly matters is how it’s sourced. As chefs, we have a responsibility to choose traceable, sustainable seafood and to show the world that protecting our fisheries is just as important as enjoying what’s on the plate. That’s how we can help shape a healthier future for our oceans,” says Chef Grace Ramirez. I’m always inspired by chefs who show that delicious seafood can be good for you, the ocean and the communities that depend on it. Thank you, Chef Grace, for sharing a perfect example: Pescado en Salsa Verde—a tasty way to enjoy seafood from healthy, well-managed U.S. fisheries, the result of decades of work by scientists, fishery managers and environmental groups like Environmental Defense Fund. Try it at home and share your photos to celebrate #NationalSeafoodMonth with us! Full recipe below.👇🐟👩🍳🌎 🛒 Ingredients: 7 tbsp olive oil, divided 5 garlic cloves, divided 36 clams (approx) 1 tbsp white wine Sea salt 2.2 lb of your preferred semi-firm white fish Juice of one lemon Pink sea salt and freshly ground black pepper ½ cup chopped parsley ½ cup frozen peas, thawed or fresh, shelled peas 📝 Instructions: In a medium sauce pot, heat 1 tbsp olive oil with 2 crushed garlic cloves. After 1 minute, add the clams and 2 tbsp white wine. Cover and cook until all the clams have just opened up, about 10 minutes. Set the cooked clams aside. Meanwhile, season the fish with lemon juice, pink sea salt and pepper. Set aside. In a shallow sauté pan, heat 6 tbsp olive oil, 3 minced cloves of garlic and parsley over very low heat for 8–10 minutes. Watch closely—you do not want the garlic to get any color. Meanwhile, pat your fish dry. Add the fish to the pan skin side up and add 2 tbsp of water. Cook for 5 minutes. Flip the fish and add peas and clams. Cover and cook for an additional 5 minutes, until the fish is cooked through. Season to taste and serve immediately. Enjoy!

Heat stress is a silent threat to our food supply—and this summer proved it. When cows overheat, milk drops, fertility falls and disease risk climbs. For farmers, that means lower yields, higher methane intensity and major financial losses. The good news? From shade structures to healthy feed supplements, farmers are innovating. Now we need funding and research to scale these solutions. Keep reading: https://lnkd.in/eT-P2tef

The ocean’s mesopelagic zone is essential for climate stability and marine food webs—and now it's receiving vital protections. International Union For Conservation Of Nature Motion 035 calls for a precautionary approach to human activity in this vital ocean ecosystem until we understand it better. This ensures we can develop data-backed policies that balance ecosystem health and human needs.
