L'ESG è davvero ancora al centro dell'attenzione oggi? La domanda se l'è posta Stefano Pirilli, insieme a Giancarlo Puddu, ad apertura dell'intervento di Seed Capital Pro al secondo seminario ESG TECH TALKS (Interreg France-Italia ALCOTRA) tenutosi a Nizza il 16 ottobre 2025. Domanda retorica fino a un certo punto. Una risposta la avevamo già da giugno: un operatore istituzionale con 100+ miliardi AUM ci aveva detto durante una call: "ESG is dead as binding investment criterion, no longer interesting". BlackRock, Vanguard avevano detto lo stesso tra 2024 e 2025. Eppure l'intervento ha evidenziato che questa è una posizione, una delle possibili rispetto al quadro di 4 tipi di soggetti davanti a ESG. Il sistema ESG non è affatto morto. È anche vero che la sua "rilevabilità" non regge certi ritmi di crescita come l'ipercrescita. Una PMI che cresce al 30% annuo passa da 2 ore di lavoro ESG al mese a 20. I sistemi collassano se anche la valutazione ESG non accelera. E se poi tanto urta il greenwashing, che dire del greenhushing? Il 71% delle top 50 società USA ha tolto ESG dalle comunicazioni pubbliche. Il bello è che non hanno fermato gli investimenti in sostenibilità ma per timore o pudore hanno scelto il silenzio: hanno deciso di non "capitalizzare" ESG come comunicazione. E così a Nizza, nel bellissimo contesto offerto dalla CCI Nice Côte d'Azur, all'interno dei temi del seminario con partner di progetto quali Università degli Studi di Torino, Dipartimento di Management Valter Cantino - Università di Torino, Université Côte d'Azur e La French Tech Côte d'Azur, noi di Seed Capital Pro abbiamo presentato EST4ESG: chiaro focus sulle sfide e sulle criticità e tre assi architetturali per rendere ESG scalabile durante la crescita. 𝐄𝐒𝐆 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐬 – “𝐄𝐒𝐆 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐲𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡” Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the 𝗘𝗦𝗚 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀 conference at the 𝗖𝗖𝗜 𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗼̂𝘁𝗲 𝗱’𝗔𝘇𝘂𝗿, a truly enriching discussion among IAE Nice (Graduate School of Management), Università degli Studi di Torino, Seed Capital Pro, and La French Tech Côte d'Azur. I’m deeply grateful to Prof. Ulrike Mayrhofer for the kind invitation and to Prof. 𝗘𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗲𝘁𝗵 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗿, 𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝘂𝗷𝗮𝗻𝘆, 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗳𝗮𝗻𝗼 𝗣𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶, 𝗚𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗼 𝗣𝘂𝗱𝗱𝘂, and 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘅 for their insightful contributions. The dialogue explored how #ESG frameworks can adapt to an era of #hypergrowth, #digitaltransformation, and geopolitical uncertainty, and how European companies can turn regulation into innovation. From the #TwinTransition to the ethical dilemmas of #dualuse technologies, and the role of #AI in ESG data governance, the discussions highlighted a crucial point: sustainability must be strategic, not just compliant. As part of my #DBA research on strategic management approaches to #SpaceSustainability, I was inspired by how these challenges echo those of the space sector: aligning ethics, technology, and governance toward a shared long-term vision. Conference: ESG Tech Talks - Critères ESG et Hypercroissance 🇪🇺 Discussion among IAE Nice Graduate School of Management, Università degli Studi di Torino, Seed Capital Pro, La French Tech Côte d'Azur at CCI Nice Côte d'Azur. With Caroline LEHOUX we went through the #ESG concept for enterprises. Nicole Dujany talked about public policies and a change of paradigm: public investors should look at solutions with the better impact on societies, not only at innovation and profitability. A good #TwinTransition is a priority for the #EU. Stefano Pirilli reflected on the multiple challenges that organizations are facing at once - ESG, #AI and human collaboration, #sustainability, #hypergrowth, #twintransition, #dualuse (ex: military and civilian) - and how some investors are skeptical now about ESG. Giancarlo Puddu talked about five dimensions threatening the ESG practices. Profs Ulrike Mayrhofer and Elisabeth Walliser reflected on how conciliating ESG and hypergrowth in an international context through relevant case studies. Will go back home with a doubt in mind: in this global context giving bigger and bigger challenges to #Environment, #Social and #Governance dimensions, do we need different supranational dynamics to cope with them?
