🚀 Two years of the ESIC Project (2023–2027)! We’re excited to share the progress of our extensive social innovation education research, based on a large dataset collected across Europe. 📚 From over 36,000 academic papers, we carefully selected 154 for an in-depth analysis, leading to the creation of a social innovation competency framework. 🎤 We’ve also conducted 69 interviews and 34 focus groups across nine countries, involving nearly 300 stakeholders— from entrepreneurs and policymakers to educators and funders — to explore effective pedagogies and stakeholder roles. 📝 Ongoing: a survey for practitioners, teachers, and students, designed to reveal gaps in expectations about the key competencies for social innovation. 🌍 15 Partners, 1 Vision: Advancing Social Innovation in Cork 🇮🇪 This month, the ESIC consortium - a dynamic alliance of 15 partners - came together in Cork for four days of collaboration, reflection, and forward planning. Together, we: ✅️ Refined our internal and external Tone of Voice ✅️ Reflected on the Capabilities Framework and key competence profiles (e.g. Social Innovation Manager, Involved Employee) ✅️ Explored how to boost survey engagement, highlighting the impact of individual input on wider societal challenges like climate change and democratic resilience ✅ Joined a panel discussion on the local social innovation ecosystem in Ireland ✅️ Entered a new phase: piloting the ESIC curriculum across Europe - from Estonia's upskilling initiative to upcoming activities in Ireland, Finland, Spain and Romania ✅️ Strengthened our approach to sharing learning, co-design, and co-development ✅️ Reflected on our Validation and Accreditation Framework, built on a cross-country mapping of systems ✅️ Aligned on project reporting and opened the door to conversations around post-project future of the ESIC campus 💬 This gathering reaffirmed the power of cross-border collaboration in shaping innovative learning pathways that respond to real-world needs. 🚀 New Subpage Launch: Skills for Social Innovation 🌍 We’re pleased to announce a new subpage on the European Social Innovation Campus website, focused on one of our key areas of work: understanding the skills needed for the future of social innovation. As part of the Campus, we conduct research into what educational institutions should teach to better prepare individuals for careers in the social innovation sector—and to foster the development of social innovations. 📘 The findings of this research are presented in our annual Skills Monitor. To support this, we’ve launched an annual questionnaire aimed at: ✅ Students ✅ Educators ✅ Professionals in social innovation This questionnaire helps us identify the competencies needed now and in the future within the field. 🚀 Building Social Innovation Skills in Võru County, Estonia As part of the ESIC Project—which is driving social innovation across Europe—we recently held a pilot Training of Trainers in Võru County. This was more than just a workshop; it was a powerful step toward strengthening local capacity for entrepreneurship education. 🌱 Over two days, professionals from the Development Centre of Võru County, EWERS, TSENTER, the Unemployment Office, NGOs, and regional schools came together to: 🔹 Explore frameworks like the Double Diamond & personas 🔹 Practice idea generation, prototyping & scaling solutions 🔹 Discover funding tools & impact measurement methods 🔹 Connect local innovation with global goals, including the UN SDGs Participants emphasized the practical value of the tools, the richness of peer-to-peer exchange, and the importance of linking local efforts to international agendas. This pilot didn’t just equip trainers with new approaches—it also offered valuable insights to shape future international ToT programmes across Estonia and beyond. 🌍 Innovation starts local, but its impact can be global.
