New Funding Opportunity: Bio-logging Innovation
The Experiment Foundation Bio-logging Grant Program is now accepting applications through Feb 28th, 2025. This initiative is designed to support innovative thinkers and researchers dedicated to advancing bio-logging technologies.
Bio-logging tags have revolutionized our understanding of animal behavior, ecosystems, and conservation challenges. By leveraging advances in technology and engineering, researchers can now study species and habitats in unprecedented ways. From tracking the movements of the largest whales to monitoring the smallest insects, bio-logging tools provide critical insights into how animals interact with their environments and respond to disturbances.
We are seeking proposals that push the boundaries of what’s possible in bio-logging, with a particular emphasis on marine tagging.
🔑 Who Should Apply:
- Researchers tackling challenges in tag design, sensor development, deployment mechanisms, data storage/transfer, and more
- Projects with high-risk, high-reward approaches to innovation
Proposals with a focus on marine species are preferred, though advancements applicable across bio-logging are encouraged
- Applicants working directly with animals must have an active IACUC or similar permit
This program offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the next generation of bio-logging tools and to enhance our understanding of the natural world.
We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Ari Friedlaender as our Science Angel for this grant, which was made possible due to generous backing by Dalio Philanthropies.
