📚 New data shows the power of strong foundations in education. In classrooms across Northern #Nigeria, the Partnership for Learning for All in Nigeria (#PLANE) is helping children build the #reading and #math skills they need to thrive in school and beyond. Using a structured pedagogy model — bundling materials, #teachertraining and coaching — PLANE is driving remarkable results: 📖 Year 3 learners gained the equivalent of 3.6 additional years of schooling in reading 🔢 Math skills steadily improved, exceeding benchmarks from comparable programs across Sub-Saharan Africa 🚀 The impact translates into over $84 million in projected lifetime earnings gains for more than 311,000 students served When children have the right tools and teachers have the right support, the ripple effects last a lifetime — for students, communities and entire economies. #Education #FoundationalLearning #Numeracy #Literacy 📸: Caitlin Downs/ FHI 360

Every morning, Eman walked for 90 minutes to fill two jerry cans with water — missing school and risking her safety. “I knew the water I would bring back to my family was unsafe… but we did not have any other choice,” she said. The war in Tigray cut Eman and her family off from clean water. Now, thanks to FHI 360’s partnership with the local water authority, her town’s boreholes are restored and clean water is just steps away. Eman is back in school, ready to learn and dream again. Water shouldn’t cost a girl her education. 📖 Read more about how water access transforms lives: https://bit.ly/3JoC2Om #CleanWater #HumanitarianAid #CrisisResponse #Tigray #Ethiopia #WASH #GirlsEducation

“This long journey often made me late for school, and I missed classes on multiple occasions,” said 11-year-old Eman, who used to carry 80 pounds of water for her family every morning. 💧 In Ethiopia, clean water wasn’t just about health — it’s about safety, dignity and education. Conflict had left boreholes broken, forcing families to collect unsafe water from faraway streams. Engineers working with FHI 360 restored the local water supply. Now, Eman is back in her fifth-grade classroom — where she belongs. “Thanks to FHI 360 and the American people, the community and I are now able to access clean water close to our homes,” Eman shared. 🚐 In Ukraine, conflict has weakened health systems, leaving many without essential care. That’s where FHI 360’s mobile medical teams step in. Across the country, 11 teams travel to conflict-affected and remote regions to provide rehabilitative care, restore mobility, and deliver hope. Take Sofiia, 81, from the Kharkiv region. Severe knee and back pain left her homebound and depressed—until she connected with Olena, a rehabilitation specialist on one of our teams. With exercises, ongoing support, and a cane, Sofiia regained her independence in just six weeks. Since launch, our teams have provided care to more than 2,200 people, supported by the U.S. Department of State. 👉 Read Sofiia’s story: https://bit.ly/4nw7PvO #Ukraine #HumanitarianHealth #GlobalHealth #HumanitarianAid

“The world of work is transforming — and so are the ways people build their careers. Apprenticeships, certifications, mentorships and community college partnerships are commonly called alternatives to four-year degrees — but in fact, they’re accelerators for success, offering real pathways to opportunity and mobility.” - Lisa Johnson, Director of the National Institute for Work and Learning at FHI 360 #WorkforceDevelopment #EducationInnovation #CareerPathways #FutureReady 📸 Photo credit: Gabriela Rancier/Productora Comando for FHI 360

"AI is the biggest disruption that the world is grappling with today –- and one that we need to harness." - Sherry Youssef Younes, Senior Director, Economic Resilience at FHI 360 By 2050, more than 80% of the world’s population will live in developing countries, and 1.2 billion young people will enter a labor market expected to create only 400 million jobs. As World Bank Group President Ajay Banga said, “The energy of these people will define the energy of the next century.” Jobs are the surest path to dignity, stability and growth. As the AI revolution accelerates across every sector and region, the challenge — and opportunity — lies in ensuring that digital transformation translates into meaningful, inclusive employment. FHI 360 is working at the intersection of education, workforce development and digital innovation to help young people build skills, access opportunities, and create the jobs of the future. #WBGMeetings #Jobs #FutureOfWork #EducationToEmployment #GlobalDevelopment 📸: Shahera Youssef Younes
