Today we join the global community in celebrating World Digital Preservation Day, a reminder that our digital heritage — from archival images to multimedia assets — deserves the same care and respect as physical collections. At Gallery Systems we’re proud to support institutions in safeguarding their digital assets for the long term. Here are 3 actionable steps you can take right now: 1. Standardise your workflows — Develop clear procedures for asset creation, ingestion, cataloguing, storage and access. Structured workflows minimise risks of loss or inaccessibility. 2. Choose the right platform — Use TMS Media Studio, our digital asset management system, to keep files secure, searchable, and accessible long term. 3. Ensure long-term access and usability — Monitor file formats, metadata, rights and accessibility. Make sure digital assets remain discoverable and meaningful for future audiences. If you’re looking to future-proof your collections, we’d love to talk about how our software suite can help build resilience into your digital programme: https://lnkd.in/eN3Pa_TS #DigitalPreservation #CollectionsCare #MuseumTech

It’s #AskAConservator Day! Preserving Munch’s masterpieces — the unseen work behind the scenes. Our conservation team plays a vital role in preserving his works for future generations. Edvard Munch’s sometimes untraditional use of materials and experimental techniques give his pictures a completely unique appearance. They also pose a number of challenges for the Museum’s Conservation Department. We care for an incredible collection of 1,128 paintings and 25,000 prints and drawings by Edvard Munch. From cleaning and delicate retouching to travelling with artworks to ensure their safety. MUNCH has a well-equipped Conservation Department, in which paintings conservators, paper conservators, art technicians and museum scientists work to care for, and conduct research into, Munch’s art. There is great interest in exhibiting Munch’s art, and some paintings are out on loan almost continually. The Museum is constantly required to find a balance between looking after the artworks and putting them on display. A huge thank you to our Partners and Supporters who contribute to MUNCH and our work INPEX Idemitsu Norge | Canica | Viking | Deloitte | Bergesenstiftelsen | Sparebankstiftelsen DNB | Talent Norge | Oslo kommune #EdvardMunch #MUNCH #MUNCHmuseum #iconicart #conservation #futuregenerations

🔍I SPY something brown and white with fruits all over... On a table layered with rich textiles rest four ripe fruits, three vessels of metal, ceramic, and glass, two bushels of foliage, and one shining platter. What do YOU see? 👀 This painting by William Merritt Chase is an example of a "still life" painting, which was often done to showcase both the technical skill of the artist in rendering three-dimensional objects on a flat surface as well as the opulent and ephemeral beauty of the objects depicted. Such a display would lend an air of luxury to the room in which it was hung, making it especially popular among upper-class homes eager to exhibit their wealth. 🍑🌿🧺 William Merritt Chase dazzled the art world with his stunning still lifes, portraits, and landscapes. 🎨 See his work up close in "American Gaze: Impressionism, Paintings from Tampa Bay Collections", on view now at the Tampa Museum of Art! "The idea is not to build an archive of archival images, but rather to offer tools for interpreting the regime through its own visual weapons and to offer the American public an in-depth understanding of the relationship between art, propaganda, and power during the most controversial period in Italian history." – Maurita Cardone, Il Giornale Dell'arte https://lnkd.in/dCUHyUKh B.A. Van Sise & Fondazione Massimo e Sonia Cirulli
