I really want to thank Global Health Strategies and David Gold, in particular for hosting a pre-launch reception the night before my official publishing date for new book Fair Doses. And thank you Linnea Dorin for making sure books would be available. In attendance were many of the global health glitterati, old friends, renowned global health reporters, staff from IAVI, Gavi, GHS and the Gates Foundation. David graciously suggested that I was responsible for his entry into global health. Given the level of the participants, the questions after I spoke were tough and pointed…as was the conversation after the formal part of the session ended but all and all, a wonderful evening.

When Jürgen Klopp talks about dementia, he reminds us that neurodegenerative diseases are not abstract scientific challenges, but deeply human ones.   Experiences like these are important reminders of what the Alzheimer's Disease Data Initiative coalition – and the wider Alzheimer’s research community- is working toward: a future where every person living with or affected by dementia has access to prevention, diagnosis, treatments, and hopefully one day soon, a cure. This #WorldPolioDay, I’m thinking about how far we’ve come—and how close we are to ending polio for good. Thanks to the determination of health workers, parents, community leaders, and global partners like Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI), Rotary International, World Health Organization, UNICEF, and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, cases of wild poliovirus have dropped by 99.9%. Today, wild poliovirus is found only in a few areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan. This progress didn’t happen by chance. It’s the result of years of commitment, creativity, and trust built at every level. Now, with better tools like the new oral polio vaccine and stronger surveillance systems, we have what we need to finish the job—if we keep working together. In December, Mohamed bin Zayed Foundation for Humanity will bring global leaders together in the UAE to renew support for eradication. Drawing inspiration from Global Health Strategies (GHS) at the 4th International Conference on Public Health in Africa #CPHIA2025 – Africa’s largest gathering of public‑health leaders I’m clear on the one change I’d champion if I held the power: ending health inequity Millions across LMICs are excluded from wellness simply because of income, geography, or background. It’s more than access—it’s about _equal opportunity to be healthy_. The CPHIA agenda proves we can rewrite the script: African‑led financing, local vaccine production, digital‑health roll‑outs, and community‑driven programs are already delivering results . Now is the time for action. We must translate bold declarations into actions: strengthen health systems, boost domestic funding, embed equity in every UHC roadmap, and amplify African voices in global forums. My # 1 priority? I'm having a fantastic time at the 4th International Conference on Public Health in Africa #CPHIA2025. It's been a privilege and an honour learn about all the great initiatives taking place on our continent. A chat on sustainability at the Global Health Strategies stand turned into an impromptu rant (the good kind!) on what I believe is crucial for digital health: Sustainability isn't automatic we must focus on: User Adoption Local ICT Investment Interoperability The conversation was so energizing they asked me to film it right then and there😅. I fumbled my words, but the message was clear: we need to be ready to champion these ideas. This was my first off-the-cuff try, and it won't be my last.
