It was truly energising to be back at GovWare, surrounded by friends, peers and brilliant minds from across the cybersecurity community. Every conversation, from catching up with familiar faces to meeting new ones, reminded me why this ecosystem is so special. The diversity of exhibitors this year was incredible. From AI-driven and Agentic security to quantum-safe technologies, it was inspiring to see how far the industry has come and where it is heading next. I also had the opportunity to share my talk on “Securing the Future: Trust, Resilience, and the Rise of Quantum Malware”, exploring how quantum technologies are transforming the future of cybersecurity and why preparing for that future starts today. https://lnkd.in/g7CR-Q7w A big thank you to the GovWare organisers and team for putting together such an exceptional event that continues to bring the community together, foster meaningful collaboration and showcase the best of cybersecurity innovation. Grateful for the opportunity to speak at #GovWare 2025, where I joined two thoughtful panels at the Healthcare Forum, exploring how cybersecurity can be an enabler of trust, care, and innovation rather than an obstacle. In “Bridging Ecosystem Gaps: Vendor Support, AI Pressures, and the Skills Divide in Healthcare Cybersecurity”, I had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Bruce Leong (Mount Alvernia Hospital), Vivek Chudgar (Mandiant), and Thow Chang Lim (NHG Health). We talked about managing AI responsibly, closing the skills divide, and safeguarding patient data with third parties. We also discussed the emerging area of quantum security and why preparation needs to start now. A key message that resonated strongly was that security is an enabler to business, not the end goal. When aligned with purpose, it empowers innovation, supports care delivery, and strengthens trust. In “Towards Resilient Healthcare Cybersecurity: Shared Responsibility and Collaborative Models”, together with Sofia Martinez Gomez (AlixPartners) and Sam Liyanage, LLM (Singapore Institute of Advanced Medicine Holdings), we reflected on how #collaboration and #communication are essential to moving the ecosystem forward. Avoiding over-regulation, engaging regulators early, and treating vendors as part of the same team — especially during incident response — are all vital to building true resilience. #Cybersecurity truly is a team sport. Both panels were a reminder that #resilience in healthcare goes beyond technology or compliance. It’s about people, partnership, and shared responsibility to protect what matters most — the #trust that underpins care itself. A heartfelt thank you to my fellow panellists, the GovWare team, and everyone in the audience for being so engaged throughout. Every conversation like this takes us one step closer to a more resilient and trusted #healthcare ecosystem. #Synapxe #HealthTech

A privilege to speak at #GovWare2025, sharing the stage with Dr Siyi Wang, where we addressed one of the most urgent frontiers in cybersecurity: “Securing the Future: Trust, Resilience, and the Rise of Quantum Malware.” Our session explored how Quantum Computing is not just a technological breakthrough but also a paradigm shift for trust and resilience. While its potential to accelerate innovation is immense, it also poses new and complex risks: from harvest-now-decrypt-later threats to the emergence of Quantum malware (MalaQ) capable of exploiting the very foundations of today’s encryption and trust models. We highlighted that quantum resilience begins now. Organisations must adopt quantum-safe cryptography, crypto-agility, and resilient trust architectures to secure their digital ecosystems against the coming wave of quantum threats. This is not about fear, it is about foresight, readiness, and leadership in the face of technological transformation. I shared that the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) has made available the Quantum-Safe Handbook and Quantum Readiness Index (for public consultation), where organisations that contributed to this strategic initiative include A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research, SGTech and AiSP (Association of Information Security Professionals). https://lnkd.in/gipWWzX3 Thanks to the GovWare 2025 organising team for the opportunity to take the stage and contribute to the ongoing awareness discussion on securing our quantum future. 🌍 𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐖 & 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐞 2025 | 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐲𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐉𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 What an incredible week at SICW & GovWare 2025 — where conversations transcended technology and touched the core of global collaboration, economic resilience, and human responsibility. During our panel on “𝑫𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝑺𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒍𝒚 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝑬𝒄𝒐𝒔𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒎 𝑹𝒊𝒔𝒌𝒔 𝑨𝒄𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒔 𝑮𝒆𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒉𝒊𝒆𝒔, 𝑽𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒐𝒓𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑻𝒆𝒄𝒉𝒏𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒊𝒆𝒔,” we confronted an uncomfortable truth — there’s a genuine black hole in supply chain risks. One where visibility fades, accountability blurs, and interconnected dependencies outpace governance. In a world where AI and automation can execute tasks flawlessly, it’s the human layer that makes cybersecurity ethical, empathetic, and effective. Technology can detect, predict, and even decide — but only humans can question the “why” behind the data, uphold integrity, and drive collaboration that sustains trust. 💡 𝐌𝐲 5 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐖 & 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐞 2025: 1️⃣ Security is no longer about perfection — it’s about 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. Everyone in the ecosystem has a role in resilience. 2️⃣ 𝐀𝐈 𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲. Human judgement remains irreplaceable in ethical, contextual decision-making. 3️⃣ Supply chain risk is the new frontier of geopolitical resilience. Transparency and shared intelligence are the true differentiators. 4️⃣ Leadership in cybersecurity demands cross-border empathy. Policies must evolve as fast as our partnerships. 5️⃣ 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐠𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝-𝐢𝐧-𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝. It was inspiring to see donations supporting Unlocking ADHD, reminding us that securing systems also means empowering people. Grateful to have been featured by Image Engine for the post-event reflections — capturing the human side of cyber leadership and our collective pursuit of a safer digital economy. Same Same but Different! ☕️🔐 Over the years, I’ve always made it a point to attend GovWare/SICW whenever I’m in-country. It’s consistently been a highlight for the quality conversations among Cybersecurity practitioners, insightful sharing, and thought leadership from both local and international speakers. This year, however, brought a thrilling twist, at least personally for me. For the first time, I found myself on the other side of the aisle as a vendor! It was a refreshing and eye-opening experience to host and engage visitors from across the region at the largest booth of #GovWare2025. Truly proud of the team’s hard work and dedication in putting together such an impressive showcase — from the booth design to the meaningful conversations we had with everyone who stopped by. Till the next event… grab a coffee, stay connected, and let’s keep giving our cybersecurity community more MTTR (More Time To Relax)! #CyberSecurity #Community #Innovation #MTTR #Teamwork #STEngineering #QuantumSecurity #CyberResilience #PostQuantumCryptography

The 10th edition of GovWare / SICW x GovWare: Our Cyber Decade as Asia's premier #cybersecurity event brought together key players from around the world. 🤝 The EU was present with a large delegation from the European Commission and various Member States but so were INTERPOL, the United Nations, China or even Russia as known nation-state actors. Claudia Plattner, president of the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) and Vincent Strubel, general director of ANSSI - Agence nationale de la sécurité des systèmes d'information might not always agree on everything but were pretty united on the panel "Power Struggle in a Technopolar World: Big Tech & State Power". That's a great basis for the upcoming European summit on digital sovereignty on Nov 18th in Berlin organized by France and Germany. It's just great to listen to a German government representative like Claudia, who speaks English well and makes clear, actionable statements sprinkled with the right sense of humor. 🦾 The debate on digital sovereignty is not just a German or European one. APAC government officials are having similar discussions and security concerns. 🤖 #AI and securing AI / #agenticAI was top of mind. AI was probably one of the most discussed topic throughout the conference. 🌊 Hybrid threats especially for subsea cables were a subject of concern. 👁️ To shape the future of IoT security, harmonising security standards, certifications and labels is essential. Many governments are trying to make it work. 🛡️Sextortion is threatening teenagers in Asia as well. Just in August IJM linked human trafficking to scam compounds in Cambodia, Laos or Myanmar. Basically trafficked kids or teenagers are forced to go after their peers across Asia. Thank you for those that listened to my talk about the results from our Schwarz Digits cybersecurity research. More details in our reports. The XM Cyber team presented their latest product advancement and Boaz Gorodissky gave an insightful talk about a life that changed from offense to defense. #SICW2025 / #GovWare2025 brought together many contacts and friends. It was great to exchange ideas and insights with you: Mihoko Matsubara Menachem Shafran Zev Barkan Stree Naidu Tobias Feakin Yang Samson Luke Chung Douglas T. Kwok Yan Lam Henry T. Kimberly Tan

Intelligence turns random logs into early warnings. That's the understanding I walked away with after chatting with Elastic's Jie-Hong Lim at GovWare 2025. Cybersecurity experts are now mostly in agreement that it's not a matter of whether an organisation is hacked, but when it happens. The issue is with detection. 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘆 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀? - Join my WhatsApp channel. - Nobody can see your number. 👉 www.techstories.co/WA <This is a Content Collaboration with Elastic> 𝟭/ 𝗛𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗲 The modern network is an extremely noisy place. File transfers, system updates, and user activities blur into a cacophony of digital noise. And it is this environment that allows hackers who have gained a beachhead to find and compromise other systems via "lateral movement." With enough time, hackers will eventually hit the jackpot by breaking into a critical system. This makes finding intruders quickly not just desirable but vital. 𝟮/ 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗜𝗘𝗠 One approach is SIEM, or Security Information and Event Management. It works by collecting log files, alerts, and telemetry from a wide range of systems: - VPN gateways. - Anti-malware software. - Authentication systems. - Switches, routers, firewalls. - and much, much more. The idea is to capture all possible signals to better correlate "ripples" that indicate the presence of invisible intruders. There is just one problem: SIEMs are complex and require highly skilled experts to deploy and manage effectively. 𝟯/ 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘁𝘆 According to Jie-Hong, Elastic offers certain benefits to organisations looking to roll out an SIEM. The ones that caught my attention are: (a) Cost-efficient platform for data storage. (b) Option of on-premises or in the cloud. (c) Built-in AI assistance and discovery. (d) Integrated support for cybersecurity systems. With (c), a team member can use natural language queries to quickly drill down into individual alerts, or to streamline discovery across multiple assets. Unlike platforms without integrated support, detection rules, visualisation tools, and support for file formats are ready out-of-the-box (d). By reducing the complexity, even junior team members can now do more advanced tasks such as detecting new malware or threat hunting. 𝟰/ 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗰 To be clear, the typical SMB is probably better off with a managed service provider than rolling out an SIEM.
