From HBA member to CEO, Mary Stutts, MHA has spent her career mentoring leaders and strengthening the future healthcare workforce. Now, she continues that mission as a member of The HBA Foundation Board of Directors. 💚🌎 Mary first discovered the HBA through a local event in the San Francisco Bay Area, and was immediately drawn to the authenticity, connection, and collective drive of the community. As a Foundation Board Member, Mary brings decades of experience in corporate philanthropy and nonprofit leadership to advance our four core pillars: Educational Pathways, Mentorship and Leadership Programs, Pipeline Programs, and Training. “Building the healthcare workforce of the future is critical,” she said. “If we don’t inspire and support young people at every stage, from middle school to leadership roles, we risk leaving critical gaps in care and innovation.” Learn more about Mary’s inspiring journey and vision: https://ow.ly/QBiB50X9jeV Stay tuned as we continue to highlight the incredible leaders shaping the work of #TheHBAFoundation.

I am energized, inspired and feeling immensely supported. The power of last week’s annual Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association conference came through in spades. And connecting with old friends and making new ones was rejuvenating and refreshing! Attendees inspired me just as much as the phenomenal speakers. Thanks to the amazing women and men that were curious, actively listened to one and another, were not afraid to be vulnerable, created a judgement-free environment and provided great advice. Your positivity and unwavering support served as a great reminder of why I love the HBA organization and have been part of it for 20 yrs. A special thanks to speakers, organizers, my co-panelist on the patient-centricity session, HBA CEO Mary Stutts, MHA and HBA co-founder Peggy Dougherty Marcus - for uplifting us all in service of humanity! It was such a treat to join Bridgette Heller and Jim Weiss for a fireside chat at the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association annual conference. I remember when Bridgette was named HBA Woman of the Year in 2013, and sitting beside her as the 2025 Woman of the Year felt like a “full circle” kind of moment as we reflected on lessons in leadership and resiliency. My hope is that we encouraged anyone who has ever felt “built for more” to take the next bold step – to raise your hand, say yes to hard things, and turn fear or failure into a fire in your belly to do something great. One moment that stayed with me was when Bridgette said: “I actually don’t work for companies. I work for a reason.” I know this to be true for her - she is a powerful role model for what it means to be led by purpose, especially when things feel challenging. That clarity of purpose is what keeps us moving forward and innovating, honoring those who came before us and opening doors for those who will follow and continue to reshape healthcare. Thank you to the HBA for creating opportunities like this to be inspired, to connect, and to strengthen our commitment to leading with courage, compassion, and clarity for the future.

It has been a few days since the HBA Annual Conference #HBAAC25 has ended and I've had time to reflect. This year has been one that truly resonated with me: personal growth along with personal health and wellness with a "little" AI for good measure!!! I have been on a path through the last 18 months to improve my health. It is so critical to know that you have to take care of yourself so you can show up your best for those you care about, those you support and your team! The finale to the conference with Arianna Huffington and Shelley Zalis was so inspirational and enlightening! Now I just need to take some "microsteps" that I learned about from Arianna to make minor adjustments to my daily habits. AI is another area where I'm hoping to learn and grow. The topic is huge and I will utilize the information from the various sessions to put together a road map. And of course, going to the conference always means meeting new and old friends!! We can gain so much knowledge from each other, share our goals and discover new opportunities!! Thank you Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association and Walgreens for this wonderful experience!!
