About us
Hospice of Michigan provides specialized health care services for people who are living with a terminal illness as well as services and support for their loved ones. These services, commonly referred to as palliative care, focus on comfort measures and symptom management. Palliative care is directed by the patient and family, in concert with the patient’s physician or hospice medical director. Nurses, social workers, hospice aides, spiritual care advisors and trained volunteers work as an expert team to provide care. The team focuses on providing comfort and pain relief when a cure is not possible. The goal is to help each person live as fully as possible and to help the family and loved ones participate in the person’s care.

What an unforgettable evening with bestselling author Mitch Albom at the Wealthy Theatre in Grand Rapids, MI. Together with our CEO, Patrick Miller, and our Life's Big Moments spokesperson, Jordan Carson, we shared stories, inspiration, and compassion all in support of the Jo Elyn Nyman Pediatric Hospice Endowment Fund at Hospice of Michigan. Your presence, generosity, and belief in the power of hospice care help us continue to provide comfort and dignity to children and families across Michigan. A heartfelt thank-you to Mitch Albom for sharing his time, words, and heart through his new book 'twice', and to everyone who made this event possible. #EveryPersonEveryTIme #MitchAlbom #HospiceOfMichigan #HospiceCare #ChildrensHospice #Anchors4Children #DoGoodGR

For many, the word “hospice” feels scary—but it shouldn’t. Hospice isn’t about giving up. It’s about living with comfort, dignity, and support when a cure is no longer possible. Here’s what hospice really means: • Focuses on comfort and quality of life, not just medical treatment • Care can be provided at home, in a facility, or wherever you feel most comfortable • Patients still receive expert medical, emotional, and spiritual support • Families get resources, respite, and guidance—not just the patient • Choosing hospice earlier often means more time to live fully, not less 🚫 Myths & Fears • Hospice is only for the very end → Truth: Many patients receive hospice care for months, sometimes longer. • Hospice means no care → Truth: Hospice is expert care, focused on comfort, not cure. • Hospice is giving up → Truth: Hospice is about choosing how you want to live during the time that remains. • Hospice = Living with dignity, comfort, and support. 💙 Learn more at www.HOM.org/hospice #HospiceOfMichigan #HospiceCare #QualityOfLife #EndOfLifeCare #HospiceMyths #EveryPersonEveryTime

We are so touched by a generous donation from Dylan at Spy Ops in Southfield, who gifted over 60 costumes for the annual Sophia Halloween Bash in Cadillac. This free community event celebrates Sophie’s love of Halloween while raising funds to support another pediatric cancer patient in the area through our Jo Elyn Nyman Anchors Programs for Children. Anchors4Children.org Sophie’s family shared: "Our Sweet and Spooky Sophie loved everything Halloween and spooky related. She loved dressing up in costumes, watching scary movies with her dad, and having her sister do creepy makeup and effects on her... Halloween was her favorite time of the year. We are so happy to be able to share her love of all things spooky 🧡🖤👻." Because of Sophie’s spirit—and the kindness of people like Dylan—her love for all things spooky continues to bring joy and support to children and families in our care.
