In #Peru, HI is working with women, individuals with disabilities, young people, and local leaders to confront the impacts of climate change. 🌧️ From reforestation to school gardens, these #inclusive and nature-based initiatives are helping communities to preserve biodiversity, improve nutrition, and improve livelihoods for generations to come! 🌱

Humanity & Inclusion works alongside people with disabilities and survivors of disaster and conflict.
About us
Co-recipient of the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize, Humanity & Inclusion is a 40-year-old independent and impartial organization working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster. We work alongside people with disabilities and populations living in extreme circumstances, taking action and bearing witness in order to respond to their essential needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights. With local partners, we run programs in health and rehabilitation and social and economic integration. We work with local authorities to clear landmines and other war debris and to prevent mine-related accidents through education. We respond quickly and effectively to natural and civil disasters in order to limit serious and permanent injuries and to assist survivors' recovery and reintegration. We advocate for the universal recognition of the rights of people with disabilities through national planning and advocacy. Humanity & Inclusion is the world's most comprehensive mine action charity. The heart of this action is victim assistance—this was our beginning in 1982—but teams also prevent injuries through weapons and landmine clearance, risk education activities, stockpile management, and advocacy to ban landmines and cluster bombs. The U.S. National Association of Humanity & Inclusion is a 501(c)(3) organization and a member of the Humanity & Inclusion network, which includes the Humanity & Inclusion headquarters in Lyon, France, eight national associations, and the HI Institute.

#Sudan is currently facing the world's worst humanitarian crisis. We urgently call on all parties to allow safe and unimpeded humanitarian access. Every minute of delay costs lives. Our commitment to providing life-saving #rehabilitation and essential support to the victims of this crisis remains unwavering, but we cannot do it alone. The world must not look away. #EyesOnSudan

One day, while playing outside his village in #Syria, Amer and his cousins found an explosive device. Unaware of the danger, they tried to see what it was. When it suddenly exploded, Amer lost his leg and another child lost his life. When our teams learned about Amer’s case, they immediately referred him to Kasra National Hospital, one of HI’s local partners, for surgery. Now, he's receiving #PhysicalTherapy sessions and a new elbow crutch to improve his mobility! Across Syria, millions of civilians are still at risk from #UnexplodedOrdnance. HI's teams are on the ground, raising awareness, supporting survivors, and working to protect more children like Amer.

Civilians in #Gaza are currently living in an unmapped minefield. In January, the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) estimated that 10-12% of the munitions fired at Gaza had not exploded. HI's teams on the ground are working tirelessly to raise awareness about the dangers of these unexploded weapons and educate communities on how to stay as safe as possible.

This past July, the #Philippines was hit by a series of extreme weather events: typhoons, torrential rain, and floods. Tintin, a young mother of two, was left with almost nothing when floods devastated her community. “My heart broke when I saw my children — we had no choice but to eat rice only once a day,” she shared. But with financial support from HI's teams, Tintin was able to feed her children again and return to school. Now, she and her family can rebuild their lives and look forward to a brighter future!

Did you know that more than half of the world's countries are contaminated by explosive remnants of war, including landmines and cluster munitions? 🌍 Last month in #Laos, our #demining teams cleared unexploded ordnance — including artillery shells, mortars, and cluster munitions — so that families can now live, farm, and play without fear.

In #Togo, HI teams are working to break the stigma around #MentalHealth and build stronger, more inclusive communities. 💙 Through group discussions, awareness sessions, and income-generating activities, people are learning to care for their mental wellbeing and support one another in the process! 🤝

In #Ukraine, HI is still on the ground, working to protect and support communities affected by the war. In Polihon, our teams recently held an Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) session at the local library. During these sessions, children learn how to recognize and avoid deadly #ExplosiveWeapons left behind by the conflict.

On this #InternationalDayOfTheGirl, we’re celebrating girls everywhere — especially those with #disabilities — who are disproportionately affected by global crises of climate, conflict, and poverty. 🌍 Through inclusive education, protection from gender-based violence, and local partnerships, HI is helping ensure every girl can shape her own future. Because every child deserves the chance to learn, lead, and thrive! ☀️
