The Institute for Clinical and Economic Review (ICER) is an independent, non-profit research institute that conducts evidence-based reviews of health care interventions, including prescription drugs, other treatments, and diagnostic tests. In collaboration with patients, clinical experts, and other key stakeholders, ICER analyzes the available evidence on the benefits and risks of these interventions to measure their value and suggest fair prices. As we are working on consolidating the outcomes of the SEISMIC meeting, we look back at a very productive event which brought together multiple relevant stakeholder groups, all with a strong commitment to improve patient care and outcomes in C3G and IC-MPGN. In addition to the strong voices of physicians, scientists and patient representatives, also from the broader community represented by the National Kidney Foundation, it was extremely valuable to learn more about how to balance innovation, affordability and sustainability from the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review (ICER). The meeting concluded with recommendations to support early diagnosis and improved disease management through involvement of experts, early initiation of the new proximal complement inhibitors, and improved disease understanding. The teams at NephCure, International Society of Glomerular Disease and CompCure are looking forward to share more information about the meeting and the next steps towards better health globally across C3G and IC-MPGN.

On Friday, ICER President and CEO Sarah Emond will be joining KFF Health News's Noam Levey, The Brookings Institution's Richard Frank, and National Pharmaceutical Council's John O'Brien on a panel during the GW Health Law and Policy Program's IRA drug pricing convening. The panel, A Step Back to Determine What We Want to Achieve, will dive into how we arrived at the IRA as a solution to the issues with the current US drug pricing system, while exploring other possible solutions for the future.
