💬 The #ISWC2025 panel “Reimagining Knowledge: The Future and Relevance of Symbolic Representation in the Age of LLMs” took place today, sparking engaging discussions on the future of AI and knowledge representation. 🪑 Chaired by R.V. Guha (#Microsoft), the panel brought together leading voices at the intersection of symbolic and neural AI - Natasha Noy (#Google), Tara Raafat, PhD (#BloombergLP), Juan Sequeda(#ServiceNow), and Elena Simperl(#OpenDataInstitute). Each panelist brought their own perspective - from calls for flexibility to reflections on incentives and interoperability in knowledge systems. The panel wrapped up with a fun question from John Domingue: 🕰️ “If you could go back in time, what advice would you give to those who started working on the Semantic Web 30 years ago?” 💬 Tara Raafat, PhD replied: “Try to bridge the gap between research and applicability!” 💡 Elena Simperl added: “Think of motivation and incentives - and also invest in NVIDIA! 😄” A huge thank you to our panelists for sharing their expertise and sparking such an important dialogue! 👏 #ISWC2025 #SemanticWeb #AI #KnowledgeGraphs #PanelDiscussion #Nara #ResearchCommunity

🎤 Day 1 of #ISWC2025 began with an inspiring keynote by Denny Vrandečić: “Wikipedia and the Semantic Web” 🇯🇵 In a captivating talk, Denny Vrandečić traced the intertwined evolution of Wikipedia and the Semantic Web, from the early 2000s to today’s era of knowledge graphs and large language models. He showed how ideas born in the Semantic Web community shaped tools like #SemanticMediaWiki, #DBpedia, and ultimately #Wikidata which is now the world’s most-edited wiki. 🌐 Looking ahead, Denny shared an exciting vision where LLMs and knowledge graphs converge, offering new opportunities (and challenges) for Wikipedia, the Web, and open knowledge. A truly inspiring start to the main conference! 🙌 #ISWC2025 #SemanticWeb #KnowledgeGraphs #Wikipedia #Wikidata #AI #Nara Anna Lisa Gentile Kouji Kozaki Blerina Spahiu Juan Sequeda Oktie Hassanzadeh Irene Celino Daniel Garijo Sabrina Kirrane Maribel Acosta Deibe Andrea Nuzzolese Angelo Salatino Cogan Shimizu Mayank Kejriwal Pablo Mendes Shenghui Wang Gong Cheng Sebastián Ferrada Aliaga Jenifer Tabita Ciuciu-Kiss Nandana Mihindukulasooriya Genet Asefa Gesese Akaichi Ines Atsuko Yamaguchi
