Due to the federal government shutdown that began on October 1, 2025, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has notified the Commonwealth of Virginia that November SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits cannot be issued at this time. This is a nationwide issue impacting all SNAP households and cannot be appealed. What You Need to Know: • If you currently have SNAP benefits on your EBT card, you can continue to use them to purchase food. • November SNAP benefits will not be issued unless the federal government provides additional guidance. Sometimes we all need someone to talk to about our mental health, it's great when you have the support of a loved one, but that's not always possible. That's where warmlines come in place. A warm line is a confidential, free phone service that provides mental health support. Unlike crisis lines, which are for emergencies, warm lines are intended for individuals who need someone to talk to during difficult times. Mental Health Virginia has a peer-run warm line you can reach by calling or texting 1-866-400-6428. This helpline is open weekdays from 9am to 9pm and Spanish Speaking services are offered weekdays from 1pm to 5pm. If you are experiencing a crisis or the warmline is not open, you can call or text the national crisis hotline at 988 at any time.
