👨💻#JHTR study identified the commonly used heuristics used in revenue management system overrides and reasons behind their frequent use👩💻 In a recent article published in Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research, Ibrahim Mohammed (School of Hotel and Tourism Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University) and Basak Denizci Guillet (Griffith University) investigated the common heuristics used in revenue management system overrides and the reasons behind their prevalence Through applying the mixed-methods approach, the research team found: 🤔 Anchoring and overconfidence emerged as the most commonly used heuristics 💻 The positive relationship between anchoring and performance is mediated by RMS override effectiveness 😣 Overconfidence negatively affects performance directly, and not through RMS override effectiveness The eCopy of this article is available in #JHTR’s Volume 49 Issue 7: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/ef7jGaCt DOWNLOAD and READ the paper if you are interested in revenue management, revenue management system, override decisions, anchoring, overconfidence, heuristics, and hotel performance You're also advised to join the upcoming webinar on 4 Nov 2025, and hear the sharing given by the authors: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/g5S3iBTD REGISTER now and MARK this event on your calendar #ICHRIE | #HospitalityResearch | #TourismResearch | #ImpactfulResearch | #RevenueManagement | #RevenueManagementSystem | #SystemEffectiveness | #OverrideDecisions | #Anchoring | #Overconfidence | #Heuristics | #HotelPerformance | #PolyUSHTM | #GriffithUniversity |

📊#JHTR study uncover the heterogeneity of demand curves during both normal periods and times of crisis📊 In a recent article published in Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research, Gabrielle Lin (University of Essex), Jason Chen (University of Surrey) & Haiyan Song (School of Hotel and Tourism Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University) constructed hotel demand curves at the disaggregate level to uncover the heterogeneity of demand curves across consumers and during both normal periods and times of crisis In this research paper, the research team found that: 💡The pandemic made the demand curve for midscale (upscale) hotels more inelastic (elastic) 💡The pandemic mitigated (amplified) the influence of individual differences on the demand curve 💡The demand curve for economy hotels was unaffected by a pandemic. The eCopy of this article is available in #JHTR’s Volume 49 Issue 7: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gdS6bDg8 DOWNLOAD and READ the paper if you are interested in demand model, demand curve modeling, demand curve analysis, behavioral economics, pandemic and hotel types 😉 You're also advised to join the upcoming webinar on 4 Nov 2025, and hear the sharing given by the authors: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/g5S3iBTD REGISTER now and MARK this event on your calendar😉 #ICHRIE | #HospitalityResearch | #TourismResearch | #ImpactfulResearch | #DemandModel | #DemandCurve | #DemandCurveModeling | #DemandCurveAnalysis | #BehavioralEconomics | #Pandemic | #HotelTypes | #UniversityofEssex | #UniversityofSurrey | #PolyUSHTM |

🗣️#JHTR study shows whether & how small talks affect hospitality employees’ constituent attachment🗣️ In a recent article published in Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research, Michael J. Tews, Sydney Pons (Penn State University) and John Michel (Loyola University Maryland) investigated how informal conversations - both shallow and deep ones - impacted employees’ constituent attachment in the hospitality industry, along with the antecedents of such conversations Based on the input by 251 hospitality employees, the team found that: 🫂 Deep conversations, but not shallow ones, were positively related to constituent attachment 👥 An inclusion climate and workplace fun were linked to deep conversations 👣 The relationships between inclusion climate, fun, and constituent attachment were mediated more strongly by deep conversations than by shallow ones The eCopy of this article is available in #JHTR’s OnlineFirst column now: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/g2Fk9nFK DOWNLOAD and READ the paper if you interested in human resources management, organizational behavior, workplace conversations, small talks, inclusion climate, workplace fun and constituent attachment #ICHRIE | #HospitalityResearch | #TourismResearch | #ImpactfulResearch | #HRM | #HumanResources | #OrganizationalBehavior | #WorkplaceConversations | #SmallTalks | #InclusionClimate | #WorkplaceFun | #ConstituentAttachment | #PennState | #LoyolaUniversityMaryland |
