“How do we define network adequacy?” Thank you to Brooke Cunningham, Minnesota's Commissioner of Health, for raising this critical question at the Minnesota State of Reform Conference. It gets to the heart of what we’re building at Violet. Network adequacy isn’t just about how many providers are in a network or how close they are to patients. It’s about whether people can access the right care—from providers equipped to deliver services that feel personal, affirming, and responsive to who each person is. We’re grateful to see leaders in Minnesota reimagining what adequacy can mean, moving toward a definition that prioritizes trust, capability, and connection alongside access.

At the Minnesota State of Reform Conference, our CEO, Gaurang Choksi, shared the spark behind Violet. While building Oscar Health, he saw a persistent gap: when entering new markets, health plans rarely had a clear picture of whether their provider networks reflected the demographics and needs of the people living there. The bigger challenge? Redefining what it means to have the “right” providers. It’s not just about specialty or location. It’s about whether providers are equipped to deliver care that is truly responsive to patients’ lived experiences. That’s the problem Violet was built to solve: helping providers build measurable skills, helping health plans align networks with community needs, and ultimately helping patients find care they can trust.

We’re excited to introduce Violet Assistant, our AI-powered clinical companion. Violet Assistant gives providers instant access to evidence-based tools, vetted guidance, and ready-to-use templates so they can spend more time with patients and less time looking for resources. Examples include REaL/SOGI intake forms, infant feeding questionnaires, and population-specific screening guides. All of these resources are rooted in Violet’s CE/CME-accredited education. What makes Violet Assistant unique? Unlike many general-purpose AI tools trained on large-scale internet data, our Assistant is powered by a curriculum developed to address disparities in care. The result is guidance that is both evidence-based and equitable, designed to reflect the realities of diverse patients. We were honored to join the Minnesota State of Reform Health Policy Conference. Key takeaway: equity is not a side project, it’s essential to sustainable, person-centered care. Protecting infrastructure, centering communities, and designing technology thoughtfully are all critical steps. We’re a little late to the game, but The Pitt on HBO gave us a scene we can’t stop thinking about. In one episode, Dr. Mel King delivers a rare and thoughtful portrayal of neurodivergent-affirming care. It’s a short moment that raises important questions about what it means to meet patients where they are, and what it looks like when a provider actually does. In our latest blog, we break down the scene, explore how Mel’s lived experience shapes her approach, and reflect on why this kind of care shouldn’t be rare. At Violet, we identify providers with the skills to deliver person-centered care and expand that impact through targeted education, so this becomes the standard, not the exception. https://lnkd.in/ejxWMW6S

Community-led care improves outcomes when it centers culture, trust, and lived experience. Our latest blog article shares case studies of programs that work—and why health systems and networks should treat them as a model, not an afterthought. https://lnkd.in/eTNA5xSb
