Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day! Earlier this month, we were honored to host Stephanie Craig (Kalapuya) for a hands-on workshop. Stephanie, owner of Kalapuya Weaving & Consulting and an Oregon Culture Keeper, taught a group of LAIKAns how to create their own tule (too-lee) duck decoys. She generously shared her traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) about these Native hunting tools and the use of traditional fibers like tule in many of her woven projects.
