Since 2015, Jason Gould has been on a mission: to visit and photograph every Lowe's storefront, more than 1,700 locations across the U.S. 📍 It began by chance. On a trip to New York, Jason snapped a photo of a storefront with the sunrise behind the signature pagoda entrance. A few days later, he did it again. "I thought, what if I just took a picture every time I went into a store?". Ten years later, he has collected 161 store visits and photographs. "I'm just kind of a collector. Each picture brings back something; an associate I talked with, a detail I noticed or a unique design of the store itself". Jason's project has also made him a close observer of how we've evolves. He can note when architectural styles shifted, around the 700th store and again at 1,000, and every few years since. Jason estimates he's only about a tenth of the way to his goal and admits that reaching 1,700+ may not actually happen, but there are a few must-see stores on his list. This week the Lowe’s community accomplished their mission of coming together to bring home a beloved cat. Welcome home Francine. 💙🛠️ It all began when Francine, a stray cat who began living at the Lowe’s in Richmond eight years ago, went missing in the middle of September. In the process of trying to locate her, it became clear she hopped onto a truck that was headed to a Lowe’s distribution center in Garysburg, North Carolina, roughly 85 miles south of her home in Richmond. After weeks of searching, with thermal drones, video surveillance, and the help of the Richmond, VA community, Francine, the beloved cat of Lowe’s Store 1037, has been found safe and sound. At 4 a.m., two Lowe’s associates made the drive to reunite with her, and when Francine jumped into their arms, she let out one big meow, as if to say, “What took you so long?”. For this Hometown’s Project, we gathered a team of 45 Lowe’s associates and vendor partners and together we: 🖌️ Repainted the south side of the building and the children’s art room 🧹 Cleaned out and organized all the classrooms, offices, bathrooms, laundry, pantry, kitchen, and the auditorium/cafeteria 🌼 Beautified the landscaping around the building and parking lot As we were working, we realized the washer, dryer, and AC unit were beyond use, so we surprised Y.E.S. with brand-new ones. The Executive Director told us 'You have no idea how much this means. A lot of our children’s families have to use the washer and dryer here. This means so much.' It means a lot to know that the work we did will directly impact kids and families who need encouragement and support.
