Students always need healthy snacks, so we set up a system to order fresh produce for Metro-J students from R.E. Golden. 🍊🍓🥦 “Our delightful scholars have been so happy with the fresh produce! The mandarins were a huge hit this morning. Like little circles of sunshine! Thank you so much.” –Cindy Milbrath, Metro-J teacher

📢 Attention businesses and organizations! We’re looking for volunteers to help put together care kits for our educators as they tackle long days of parent-teacher conferences this November. These days often leave educators with little time to pause or recharge, so care packages are a welcomed boost to keep them fueled and feeling supported! Reach out to Tom at tqualls@SchoolsMakeMadison.org to get involved.

We had an exciting meeting with Madison Reading Project to discuss ways to bring more in-demand books to MMSD Metro schools. As two local groups with a shared love of improving children’s literacy, it was an energizing experience to talk about future partnerships and start selecting books for classrooms. Already, five of the children’s books brought to Metro Shelter School have found their forever homes. As a part of family libraries, these books will go on to support the literacy and development of not just the student, but their entire family. Thank you, Madison Reading Project, for your dedication to childhood and community literacy!

Our team had a great time at Madison Gas and Electric’s Dia de Futbol celebration! This family-friendly event celebrated sport, community, and sustainability. Kids enjoyed a soccer clinic with Mexican Olympic gold medalist, Marco Fabián, and learned about sustainable energy with MGE experts. ⚽

Thanks to the generosity and collaboration of Hawthorne Elementary's Adopt-a-School partners, the school received four durable soccer nets! Now students can enjoy safe, fun, and organized play without the need to use cones or shirts to mark goals. A big thank you to First United Methodist Church for leading the fundraising and to Demco, Inc., who worked with Beacon Athletics and Keeper Goals to secure the goals at a discount. ⚽👏
