About us

MANOLO will deliver a complete stack of trustworthy algorithms and tools to help AI systems reach better efficiency and seamless optimization in their operations, resources and data required to train, deploy and run high-quality and lighter AI models in both centralised and cloud-edge distributed environments. MANOLO will be deployed as a toolset and tested in lab environments via Use Cases with different distributed AI paradigms within cloud-edge continuum settings; it will be validated in verticals such as health, manufacturing and telecommunications aligned with ADRA identified market opportunities, and with a granular set of embedded devices covering robotics, smartphones, IoT as well as using Neuromorphic chips. The project will integrate with ongoing projects at EU level developing the next operating system for cloud-edge continuum, while promoting its sustainability via the AI-on-demand platform and EU portals.

  • 𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐋𝐎 𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐈 𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐮𝐦 2025 🌟 👥 The MANOLO team from our partner, Laurea University of Applied Sciences - Sari Sarlio-Siintola, Paulinus Ofem, PhD., and Mitha Rachel Jose - led a workshop: “𝘍𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘊𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘶𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺: 𝘕𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘈𝘐 𝘐𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴.”, at the AI Symposium 2025, hosted by Tomas Bata University in Zlín. 👉 The session introduced tools and frameworks for assessing trustworthy AI, including: - The HLEG (2019) Principles and Seven Requirements for Ethical AI, - The Z-Inspection® process of the Z-Inspection® Initiative and Trustworthy AI Labs, its purpose, structure, and key components, - An overview of Societal Impact Assessment (SIA) and its role in evaluating broader implications of AI systems.  Also, participants engaged in various group activities, applying these ideas through stakeholder mapping, identifying ethical tensions, and assessing societal impacts. 🙌 👨💻 Learn more about this event here: https://lnkd.in/dG5ZFfam #TrustworthyAI #MANOLO #LaureaUAS #AISymposium2025 #EthicalAI #AIInnovation

  • ✨ 𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐋𝐎 𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐃𝐑𝐅25 ✨ 🤝 For the second consecutive year, the five sister projects, AI-DAPT EU Project, EXTRA-BRAIN, PANDORA Horizon Europe Project, RAIDO Project, and MANOLO Project came together at the ADRF Forum workshop: “𝘌𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵 & 𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘺 𝘈𝘐 𝘍𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘴: 𝘔𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘭𝘰𝘶𝘥-𝘌𝘥𝘨𝘦 𝘌𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘋𝘢𝘵𝘢 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘚𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘭-𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘋𝘦𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘺𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴.” 🎯 The workshop focused on moving AI research into impactful, real-world deployments, aligned with the EU’s commitment to a sustainable and responsible digital future.   • ✨ We were proud to highlight the MANOLO Project during our rapid scientific presentation together with Sari Sarlio-Siintola, from Laurea University of Applied Sciences, where we discussed the use of AI in service provision, focusing on ethics and regulations. A big thank you to the Finnish Society of Telemedicine and eHealth for bringing together such inspiring experts, and to all presenters who shared insights around social and health care digitalisation and how AI changes our work. 👏

    First day at the 30th eHealth2025 Conference🤩 ”Strengthening Interoperability and Equality in Digital Health with Nordic Innovations” Finnish Society of Telemedicine and eHealth Clayton Hamilton had excellent starting keynote speach and talked about Strengthening digital health through solutions for interoperability and equality. Emphasizing moving from individual level to polulation level. Nice presentation of the evolutionary tale of data and interoperapility. Sabine Koch was the Ilkka Winbland Honorary lecturer and she pointed out challenges of implementing information systems in establishef healthcare models. Important take out for me was the value proposition and importance of the design phase. There were also nice short oral presentations about the ongoing research! We had scientific rapid presentation together with Sari Sarlio-Siintola about the use of artificial intelligence in service provision -ethics and regulations. We were presenting experiences from three projects that Laurea University of Applied Sciences is or has been part of ENACT Project HE , MANOLO Project and Shapes project. We also have poster in the poster exhibition with Tuija Marstio about UkraineDigiTrans project and digital pedagogy and supporting digitalization in medical education in Ukraine. #ehealth2025 #digitalhealth #interoperability #ethics #design #cocreation #ukrainedigitrans

    🤖 “Energy-efficient edge computing is crucial for the AI-enabled wearable devices we are developing at Bitbrain. These devices, such as the EEG headband for real-time sleep monitoring, decode physiological signals in real time, enabling new applications in healthcare, wellness, and entertainment. Fraunhofer’s ADELIA chip allows us to run AI models directly on our bands.” – Bitbrain Technologies The EU project MANOLO Project, funded under Horizon Europe, is building the next generation of trustworthy, efficient AI across the cloud–edge continuum. Coordinated by CeADAR Ireland, the consortium brings together 18 partners, including Fraunhofer IIS and innovative SMEs like Bitbrain, PAL Robotics, and Four Dot Infinity. 👉 In a nutshell: MANOLO develops algorithms and tools that make AI models lighter, faster, and more energy-efficient, so they can run directly on edge devices such as wearables, robots, or embedded systems – without relying solely on cloud computing.
