As part of the 2025 Summer Learning Design Pilot, Maple Unified Student Academy (MUSA) is participating with Counselors in Training: MUSA Mentors. Teen interns are stepping into entrepreneurial roles with hands-on workshops in Human Resources, Financial Planning, Marketing, and more. These incredible students worked together to co-create a Camp Counselor in Training internship job description that applies to real-world skills and XQ competencies like Problem-Solving, Pursuing Goals, and Knowing Self. They're guiding young campers through building mock businesses, capturing the experience through media, and even producing podcasts about their journey! ️The teens also are putting together professional portfolios, complete with cover letters, resumes, and activity plans to help launch their future careers. This pilot is made possible in part by a Remake Learning National Moonshot Grant, and we are excited to explore new ways to make student-centered, student-driven learning a reality. Center of Life is participating in the 2025 Summer Learning Design Pilot by having students create multiple media designs to raise awareness and reduce stigma of mental illness. They will be creating and distributing posters, stickers, flyers, and even a mini documentary to highlight the importance of mental health with their families while developing their Persuasive Communication, Collaboration, and Problem Seeking competencies. This pilot is made possible in part by a Remake Learning National Moonshot Grant, and we are excited to explore new ways to make student-centered, student-driven learning a reality. Horizons Hampton Roads, Inc is participating in the 2025 Summer Learning Design Pilot by producing a video vignette of their Horizons Hampton Roads experience. From writers to directors to interviewers, students are stepping into creative roles and building key skills like creative thinking, collaboration, and a strong growth mindset.   This pilot is made possible in part by a Remake Learning National Moonshot Grant, and we are excited to explore new ways to make student-centered, student-driven learning a reality. Over the next week, we will be highlighting the organizations that are part of the 2025 Summer Learning Design Pilot. This initiative aims to empower youth as co-creators of their educational experiences, enriching their engagement while they volunteer, work, or participate in summer learning programs. A collaboration of XQ Institute, National Summer Learning Association, Horizons National Student Enrichment Program, Allegheny Partners for Out-of-School-Time (APOST), and KP Catalysts - Knowledge to Power Catalysts this innovative pilot brings together teachers, OST staff, and high school students to co-design dynamic, interest-driven, project-based, and community-oriented learning experiences using the XQ Competencies.
