About us
The Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics (or OHDSI, pronounced "Odyssey") program is a multi-stakeholder, interdisciplinary collaborative to bring out the value of health data through large-scale analytics. All our solutions are open-source. OHDSI has established an international network of researchers and observational health databases with a central coordinating center housed at Columbia University. Our Mission To improve health by empowering a community to collaboratively generate the evidence that promotes better health decisions and better care. Our Vision A world in which observational research produces a comprehensive understanding of health and disease. Our Objectives Innovation: Observational research is a field that will benefit greatly from disruptive thinking. We actively seek and encourage fresh methodological approaches in our work. Reproducibility: Accurate, reproducible, and well-calibrated evidence is necessary for health improvement. Community: Everyone is welcome to actively participate in OHDSI, whether you are a patient, a health professional, a researcher, or someone who simply believes in our cause. Collaboration: We work collectively to prioritize and address the real-world needs of our community’s participants. Openness: We strive to make all our community’s proceeds open and publicly accessible, including the methods, tools and the evidence that we generate. Beneficence: We seek to protect the rights of individuals and organizations within our community at all times.

OHDSI reposted this
Welcome to the community, 𝐎𝐇𝐃𝐒𝐈 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐳𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝! Last Friday, OHDSI Switzerland, led by Olga Endrich, MD and Triep Karen, officially kicked off (with Peter R.) at the Bits to Breakthroughs meeting. Excited to have another national node onboard. There are now officially 18 national OHDSI nodes in Europe. Learn more about what they do, or how to become a node on the OHDSI Europe website (https://lnkd.in/dUNuUxHm). #OHDSI #NationalNodes #JoinTheJourney
☄️ The 3rd Bits to Breakthroughs National Event in Bern was a success! Thank you, Oksana Riba Grognuz, Laure Vancauwenberghe, Almut Lütge, Triep Karen, Natalie Breitschmid, and Olga Endrich, MD, for a fantastic and energetic organisational committee! ⚡ Highlights ⚡ 🎉 Inauguration of the OHDSI National Node Switzerland & Welcome speech by Peter Rijnbeek, PhD, Professor of Medical Informatics and Chair of the Department of Medical Informatics, Erasmus University Medical Centre. 🎯 Study-a-thon focused on a data-driven representation of sepsis, by bridging medicine and data science https://lnkd.in/e2uFP28V 🥅 Collaborative Research Data Science: Bringing the ACROSS team together and finding new collaborations https://lnkd.in/ehWk4srN 🍁 Impressions 🍁 Give people space, time, and purpose — and they’ll build more than knowledge; they’ll build understanding. What stood out most was the diversity of people who came together — clinicians, data engineers, data scientists, and semantic experts. We created an environment where participants could define meaningful challenges, collaborate deeply, and work without distraction. This focused time and dedicated infrastructure enabled conversations, creative problem-solving, and actionable insights. ✨ Grateful to everyone who contributed their expertise and energy. 🤝 Dear participants, thank you for your commitment and contribution! Together, we showed that when diverse minds come together with time and space to think, true #Breakthroughs happen.

Congratulations to Early-Stage Researchers workgroup co-lead Harry Reyes Nieva on being named a 2025 STAT Wunderkind, an award given to the top 30 early career scientists in North America. Harry's pursuit of advancing AI in medicine followed a similar path as his early aspirations to become a lawyer: to help people. #JoinTheJourney https://lnkd.in/eA8WsJUw
