 🚀 What happens when you give search engineers 2 hours and 500 questions? We found out at SIGIR 2025's LiveRAG Challenge! The mission: build a complete retrieval-augmented generation system using a fixed LLM (Falcon-10B) to answer questions from a massive corpus. Answers were evaluated by both AI judges and humans on correctness and faithfulness. No gaming the system allowed. We dove in to test a simple question: How much do different retrieval pipeline components actually matter for answer quality? And could we build something competitive on our everyday laptops? ⏰ Two hours later, we had our answer (and a working system!) Thanks to the organizers for creating such a well-crafted competition that pushed us to think differently about RAG implementation.
