🎉🎉🎉 It's here! 🎉🎉🎉 We are thrilled to announce that ORCID now supports an expanded range of work types in the ORCID record! 👏👏👏 This means that, for the first time, scholars from arts and humanities disciplines have the ability to accurately record and claim credit for outputs such as 🎼 musical compositions, 🎨 still and 🎞️ moving images, and even 📝 teaching materials! This is a major, long-awaited improvement to the ORCID record, developed with the benefit of extensive feedback from our community. We are excited to discover what innovative use cases might arise from these new work types! #academia #artsandhumanities #finearts #musicstudies #academicchatter Read more about the new work types ORCID supports — and how to start claiming credit for your arts and humanities work — on our blog. About us
ORCID’s mission is to enable transparent and trustworthy connections between researchers, their contributions, and their affiliations by providing a unique, persistent identifier for individuals to use as they engage in research, scholarship, and innovation activities. We do this by providing three important things: 1. The ORCID iD: a unique, persistent identifier free of charge to researchers 2. An ORCID record connected to the ORCID iD, and 3. A set of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), as well as the services and support of communities of practice that enable interoperability between an ORCID record and member organizations so researchers can choose to allow connection of their iD with their affiliations and contributions ORCID is a global, not-for-profit organization sustained by fees from our member organizations. We are community-built and governed by a Board of Directors representative of our membership with wide stakeholder representation. ORCID is supported by a dedicated and knowledgeable professional staff.

Community of Practices ☺️☺️☺️ ORCID
🌏 AAF's CEO and ORCID Board Member, Heath Marks, has attended the recent ORCID Consortia Lead Workshop in Munich. The workshop brings together consortium leads from across the globe to share best practice and encourage global collaboration. AAF is one of 33 consortium leads, bringing together universities, national research infrastructures and researchers to create and maintain a registry of unique researcher identifiers and a transparent method of linking research activities and outputs to these identifiers. As the Australian ORCID Consortium, the AAF takes on the roles of local administration, as well as technical and outreach support to enable ORCID to scale globally. The role that consortia leads take in building and managing their national or regional communities of practice is a key driver in ORCID’s successful uptake across the global research infrastructure. Today is the last day of International Love Data Week! 💚 📊 In keeping with the theme of "Whose Data is It, Anyway?" we wanted to talk about ORCID's recently updated Privacy Policy. Privacy is and has always been a fundamental concern for ORCID. This is reflected in our founding principles and values, in our Strategic Priorities, as well as in our day to day operations. Whether you are an ORCID record holder, an attendee at one of our events, a representative of one of our Member Organizations or a combination of the above, we want to make sure that we are clear about how and why we collect and use your personal information. ORCID recently revamped our Privacy Policy, including how we present information about people's data protection rights. We invite you to read more about it in this blog by ORCID Data Protection Officer Ellen Paterson. ➡️ https://shorturl.at/ovO2C #LoveData25 #LoveDataWeek

Happy International Love Data Week! 💚 📊 At ORCID, we provide users with a high amount of transparency and control related to the information shared with ORCID and other users or member organizations. ORCID has taken actions to minimize the amount of personal data needed to establish an ORCID record, requiring only a first name and email address. In addition, ORCID makes it clear that its tools and services provide users with control over registration, what is connected to an ID, and who can access user information. Want to learn more? ORCID's Data Protection Officer Ellen Paterson recently shared both ORCID's philosophy related to data privacy, as well as some details about our practices in a recent webinar.
