Tomorrow is the final day to submit proposals to the De Gruyter eBound Foundation’s Climate Action Fund! We’ve been overwhelmed and inspired by the extraordinary range of high-quality proposals already submitted from across the university press and small independent publishing community. The response has exceeded our expectations (and our initial budget!). We fully expect to allocate the full $100,000 and are already exploring ways to work with libraries, funding bodies, and mission-aligned partners to expand this important initiative in the future. This is the kind of work our not-for-profit arm was built to do - serving the scholarly community by supporting open access in ways that reflect our shared values. Meet Sarah Malley – Regional Marketing Manager With over six years of experience in university press publishing, Sarah brings a wealth of expertise and energy to Paradigm’s marketing team. While earning her BA in Writing, Literature, and Publishing from Emerson College, Sarah honed her editorial skills at literary agencies like Writers House and Aevitas Creative Management, evaluating manuscripts and creating reader reports. After graduating, her love of books led her to Newtonville Books, where she handpicked titles for the store, wrote staff recommendations, and helped guests discover their next favorite read. In 2019, Sarah joined the sales team at Harvard University Press, providing internal and external communication support, coordinating sales, and representing the Press at conferences and trade shows. She then transitioned into the role of Digital Sales Associate, where she oversaw sales on the Press’s two digital platforms, managed their eBook program, collaborated with fellow publishers, and led backlist digitization efforts. Last year, we were excited to welcome Sarah to the Paradigm team as a Regional Sales Manager. Today, she creates eye-catching email campaigns, brings editorial precision to marketing materials, and ensures that our press and library partners receive exceptional support. When she’s not making us laugh in the Boston office, you can find her visiting Helsinki, Finland, her second home and favorite place in the world. “I joined the team at Paradigm because it was obvious the people here really care about making scholarly publishing better for all stakeholders. Exploring Stellwagen Bank Marine Sanctuary and spotting whales and porpoises up close was a truly magical experience.
