  • Thank you to the CD&R Foundation for volunteering at the West Farms Opportunity Center for a day of professional development and food distribution to our community. This event is about more than distributing food—it's about showing up for our community to meet real needs. This impactful evening consisted of: 📌 Free Farmer's Market: With the help of our fantastic partner, FoodStream Network, we supplied 93 bags of fresh, locally grown produce. 📌Plant Box Refresh: Volunteers revitalized our plant boxes, preparing them to showcase beautiful tulips in the coming season. 📌Work Readiness Support: Career Network: Building Services participants engaged in work readiness workshops where they learned interview tips and received feedback on strengthening their resumes. These workshops helped them gain confidence and skills for the next step in their professional journey. 📌Career Starter Kits: Volunteers assembled "first-day" work bags filled with essential items and helpful advice to support individuals as they begin new jobs. Partnerships like these are essential. They allow us to reach more people, offer more resources, and continue building stronger and healthier communities. #BuildingThrivingCommunities

  • This year, at our annual Phipps Community Builder Awards Dinner, we had the privilege of honoring David Solomon, Chairman & CEO of Goldman Sachs, whose leadership and commitment to affordable housing in New York City has helped us continue our mission to build thriving communities. David’s decades long friendship with Adam Weinstein, President & CEO and David Chao, Chief Investment Officer of Phipps Houses, is a testament to the power of relationships, the kind that can inspire meaningful change. Thank you to our sponsors and donors for helping us raise over $2.6 million to support our programs and services that create opportunities for our residents and community members. At Phipps, we understand the impact of investment helps opens doors to opportunity, lasting change and thriving communities. We are grateful to our honoree David Solomon, and our board of trustees for their continued support. • The Flowers, Flavors, and Finances event was more than just a gathering — it was a celebration of community, empowerment, and practical tools for everyday success. Through our partnership with Citi, residents learned how rent reporting can positively impact credit scores — a critical step toward financial independence and long-term stability. The Campaign Against Hunger brought the flavors, offering fresh, nutritious groceries and engaging chef demonstrations that made healthy cooking accessible and exciting. To cap it all off, BLOOMAGAINBKLYN shared beautiful bouquets with attendees, spreading joy and adding a personal, heartfelt touch to the day. Events like this reflect the core mission of the #AHRI program — to uplift, inform, and empower residents through collaborative partnerships and meaningful engagement. We're proud to continue supporting efforts that meet immediate needs and lay the groundwork for lasting impact. #BuildingThrivingCommunities #ResidentEmpowerment #CommunityDevelopment #FinancialWellness

  • The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) has officially wrapped up with a Shark Tank-inspired event! Over six weeks, our 14 & 15-year-old SYEP participants collaborated in developing innovative business ideas. Through teamwork, they created prototypes, business cards, flyers, and mock websites to pitch their ideas to our judges, who asked insightful questions that brought even greater depth to each presentation. It was equally rewarding for facilitators to witness the tremendous progress participants made—not only in refining their ideas, but also in developing their public speaking, professionalism, and confidence. Congratulations to our top teams: 1st Place: Arrivederci Animals A thoughtful solution offering personalized pet coffins to honor beloved pets who have passed. 2nd Place: Flexisole – One Shoe. Every Sport. Reimagining athletic footwear with a versatile sneaker and interchangeable outsoles for every sport. 3rd Place: Seedrift A self-driving garden robot designed to plant and water simultaneously, making gardening more accessible and efficient. We’re incredibly proud of all participants and their hard work throughout the summer. Special thanks to our judges and The Department of Youth & Community Development for joining.
