Mobilizing health professionals on issues that represent the gravest dangers to human health.

About us

Guided by the values and expertise of medicine and public health, Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR) works to protect human life from the gravest threats to health and survival: nuclear war and proliferation, climate change, and the toxic degradation of the environment. PSR’s advocates contribute a health voice to energy, environmental, and nuclear weapons policy deliberations at the local, state, and federal level. Our 36,000 health professionals and concerned citizen members and activists, 24 chapters — along with national and chapter staff — form a unique nationwide network committed to a safer and healthy world. PSR is a Partner Organization of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), recipient of the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize, and is the US affiliate of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW), which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985.
