Quantum Australia was thrilled to sponsor and support Semiconductor Australia 2025, a powerhouse gathering of Australia’s brightest minds in semiconductors, quantum, photonics, AI, and advanced manufacturing. 🤝 From the first session to the final pitch, the energy was electric. One message rang loud and clear: the future of quantum innovation is inseparable from the strength of our semiconductor ecosystem. From silicon-based qubits to integrated photonics and quantum-ready chips, progress in one field fuels breakthroughs in the other. 🏆 A standout moment was watching George Li, COO & Co-Founder of Lumina Corp, take out the Dolphin Tank Pitch Lab with their scalable photonics manufacturing platform, a brilliant showcase of how Australian quantum ventures are driving semiconductor innovation and global competitiveness. 🎤 The “Where Quantum & AI Collide” panel brought even more spark to the day, featuring powerful insights from Dr Josh Brown (BluGlass Limited (ASX: BLG), Brett Freeman (Silicon Quantum Computing), Dr Thomas Ohki (Emergence Quantum), Mark Luo (Quantum Brilliance), Jonathan Belz (BFA Global), Marcel Zalloua (ResetData), and Andreas Baumhof (QuintessenceLabs). 👏 A huge congratulations to Stef Winwood, Nadia Court, Anna Gurevich, and the Semiconductor Sector Service Bureau (S3B) team for delivering an exceptional event — and for their continued leadership in building Australia’s semiconductor and quantum capability. The momentum is real, and the future is quantum-powered.

🌏 Strengthening Global Quantum Collaboration International collaboration is essential to accelerate the development and adoption of quantum technologies, enabling researchers, industry, and governments to share knowledge, align priorities, and scale innovation beyond national borders. As part of this global effort, a delegation of seven leading Australian quantum researchers travelled to South Korea for a week of strategic engagement at the APEC Forum for Quantum Science and Technology. The visit featured a joint Australia–Korea Quantum Workshop at the KRISS : Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science in Daejeon, where Australian and Korean researchers came together to exchange insights, explore emerging technologies, and identify opportunities for joint research, education, and commercialisation. The program also included lab tours at KRISS and KAIST, offering delegates firsthand exposure to Korea’s rapidly advancing quantum ecosystem. The engagement continued at the Australian Embassy in Seoul, with a business program hosted by Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) and supported by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). Delegates heard from the Korea Quantum Industry Association and the Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs (TIPA) about Korea’s quantum landscape, collaboration pathways, and funding opportunities for joint R&D. Several Korean technology companies joined the session, highlighting the growing momentum of the Australia–Korea quantum partnership and the shared ambition to build a globally connected quantum economy. Delegates included: ➡️ Maja Cassidy (UNSW) ➡️ Michael Bremner (University of Technology Sydney) ➡️ Stephen Bartlett (Quantum Australia / Sydney Nano, University of Sydney) ➡️ Chris Vale (CSIRO) ➡️ Jared Cole (RMIT University)

Quantum Australia co-hosted the first Quantum Futures: Health workshop in Sydney, a unique, co-designed exploration of how emerging quantum technologies could shape health systems, research, and patient care in the decades to come. The workshop brought together a diverse mix of participants, including quantum researchers, health innovators, policymakers, and industry leaders. The event was organised in partnership with Sydney Nano, University of Sydney, The University of Sydney Business School (Innovative Organizing and Technology Hub)Olga Kokshagina , Monash University, and the Sydney Knowledge Hub. The workshop focused on co-designing societal readiness and building future scenarios, using 2035 and 2050 as anchor years to imagine possible health futures. Participants worked across three thematic scenarios: ➡️ Quantum simulations in drug discovery – exploring how advanced quantum systems could accelerate the design of new treatments, enable more accurate molecular modelling, and reshape the drug development pipeline. ➡️ Quantum machine learning in clinical trials – examining the potential to unlock new insights from health data, discover biomarkers, and improve diagnostics while navigating challenges around scalability, trust, and ethics. ➡️ Quantum sensing for health – envisioning next-generation sensors that could enable earlier diagnosis, real-time patient monitoring, and non-invasive imaging, pushing the boundaries of precision medicine. Through structured scenario-building activities, groups mapped opportunities, surfaced technical and regulatory challenges, and identified the infrastructure and partnerships needed for Australia to lead in quantum-enabled health innovation. This workshop is the first in a three-part Quantum Futures series, which will examine the societal impact of quantum technologies across different industries. It’s part of a broader effort to ensure that innovation is matched with foresight, inclusivity, and strong national capability.
