We're honored to be a recipient of a Union Pacific Railroad Community Ties Giving Program grant to support the expansion of our annual Holiday Lights Collection campaign. Our string lights recycling program has grown from six locations in three wards to 40 locations in 17 wards last year. By providing easy access to residents, we have reclaimed copper and other valuable metals from 10,574 pounds of old string lights and diverted them from the landfill. We are grateful for Union Pacific's belief in our work around environmental sustainability and stewardship. Their support has given us a tremendous boost toward our mission of providing access to our programs to all Chicagoans. If you or your company are interested in supporting our goal of reaching all of Chicago’s 50 wards, please reach out. We’d love to have you join us.
Congratulations to all of the outstanding nonprofits in Illinois and Wisconsin who received a Union Pacific Railroad Community Ties grant this year! Building relationships with nonprofit leaders who work hard to bring about real change in their communities is one of the most rewarding parts of my role. https://lnkd.in/gb6qrWxX Keep an eye on https://up.com next spring for 2026 grant cycle opportunities.
