Research with International Students (RIS) reposted this
🎉 I’m pleased to share that my article, “Intra-Africa Student Mobility and Social Class Reproduction: Implications for Equity and Inclusivity,” has just been published in Journal of Studies in International Education (JSIE), Sage Journals! 🌍 In this work, I explore how intra-African student mobility intersects with social class structures, and how these dynamics influence both opportunity and exclusion across higher education systems in Africa. The study sheds light on patterns of movement, access, and the reproduction of privilege within continental student flows—ultimately asking: how inclusive is our vision of mobility? 🔍 Key themes: An examination of how student mobility within Africa reflects and sometimes reinforces existing social class hierarchies. Insight into barriers and enablers of inclusive mobility pathways, and what they mean for equity — not just in access, but in outcomes. Policy and institutional recommendations to make intra-African mobility more equitable, meaningful, and aligned with the ideals of educational justice. 🙏 I want to express my deep gratitude to Omolabake Fakunle, PhD, FHEA colleagues, mentors (Yamina El Kirat, Emnet Tadesse Woldegiorgis, Iris Clemens) and institutional partners whose feedback and collaboration helped shape this work. I’m excited for this conversation to reach wider audiences and for continued work in the service of inclusive, decolonised international education. 🔗 The full article is available here: https://lnkd.in/dhsbVpjm I’d love to hear your reflections: how do you see social class and mobility interacting in your contexts?
