About us
In 1985, the NBA’s Sacramento Kings moved to California’s capital city, changing the region permanently. Today, the Kings continue their mission to profoundly impact the Sacramento region on- and off-the-court. When technologist and entrepreneur Vivek Ranadivé purchased the team in 2013, he committed to building a world-class arena in Sacramento. Golden 1 Center – opened in 2016 – is now recognized as the world’s most technologically advanced and sustainable arena in the world. Through Golden 1 Center and a $1 billion investment in the community, Sacramento is seeing dynamic economic growth, a revitalization in the downtown, and newfound energy shaping the next great American city. Recently, the organization has been recognized as Fast Company’s “Most Innovative Company in Sports,” owners of Sports Business Journal’s “Facility of the Year,” and leaders in sustainability by the Natural Resource Defense Council, Green Sports Alliance and the Huffington Post.

It’s not just the game that matters, it’s the mindset. Scott Freshour and Slamson teamed up with CalHOPE to learn how some people handle stressful situations. And remember, support is just a click away. Visit CalHOPE.org for more mental health resources.

On July 28th, the Sacramento Kings partnered with Raley's for our annual Backpack Packing drive! 💜🎒 Together with incredible volunteers from Raley’s, YOLO Transfer, and Volunteers of America, our Kings staff assembled 2,000 backpacks filled with essential school supplies for under-resourced students in the Sacramento region returning to class this fall. This initiative is part of our continued commitment to creating meaningful community impact through education and equity. Empowering students with the tools they need to succeed is just one way we’re investing in the future of our region! Here’s to a bright and successful start to the school year for students, families, and educators across our region!

Our Women in Sports Network ERG, led by the incredible Kelly Schmidt and Ellese Dias, continues to champion an inclusive and uplifting environment for women across our organization, not just in their careers, but in their personal growth as well. This summer, they launched Taking Big Swings, a summer-long golf program designed to help women learn the game of golf while building essential life skills: Confidence, Strength, and Goal setting. We were thrilled to see participation from women across the Sacramento Kings, Stockton Kings, and River Cats, all coming together to connect, grow, and step outside of their comfort zones. A huge shoutout to our ERG leads and every woman who stepped out of their comfort zone to try something new. Here’s to continued growth, connection, and more women in sports! ⛳️💜
