From vision to victory: SJ Campus has been named Design of the Year at the President*s Design Award 2025! The P*DA is Singapore’s highest accolade for design, celebrating projects that uplift communities and respond creatively to evolving societal needs. The honour means a great deal to us. Together with Safdie Architects, we reimagined what a workplace could be. Located on a 308,000sf site with 1.2 million sf of floor area, SJ Campus integrates nature, people and purpose into a cohesive, regenerative whole. We preserved mature greenery and achieved 100% green replacement. Using integrated digital systems to optimise energy use, enhance occupant comfort and enable data-driven facilities management, the campus is also among the first in Singapore to achieve both the Building and Construction Authority Super Low Energy Building certification and WELL certification. As the jury noted, “SJ Campus reconceives the traditional corporate headquarters as a campus that integrates harmoniously with the public realm.” Grateful to DesignSingapore Council and Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore (URA) for recognising our thoughtful design. Just announced: Safdie Architects was awarded the DesignSingapore Council 2025 Singapore President*s Design Award for Design of the Year for the Surbana Jurong Campus, which opened in 2024. Located in the city-state's emerging Jurong Innovation District, the complex’s design created the first headquarters set in a tropical rainforest and is one of the largest Green Mark Super Low-Energy Buildings in Singapore. “With SJ Campus, we’ve created an integrated hub that supports employees and brings them together with the surrounding landscape and community. It’s a workplace with civic generosity at its heart,” said Charu Kokate, Senior Partner. “We’ve expanded the opportunities for the public to inhabit this space—through trails, gardens, gathering places and the public spine. It will become not just a destination, but a meaningful part of daily life in Singapore.” SJ Campus’ recognition marks the third Design of the Year award received by Safdie Architects since 2011, as the firm continues its decades-long legacy of contributing meaningful architecture to the city-state.
