About us
Created by the City and County of San Francisco, San Francisco Health Plan (SFHP) is the City's number one choice for Medi-Cal, providing the community with access to award-winning health care for the past 30 years. At SFHP, we are helping shape the future of health care with a focus on improving health outcomes in San Francisco's diverse and most vulnerable communities. Our creative, innovative, and mission-driven team works together to bring equitable access to health care for all San Franciscans. At SFHP, quality care comes first. We provide our members with a full spectrum of medical services including preventive care, specialty care, hospitalization, prescription drugs, and family planning through the Medi-Cal and Healthy Workers HMO programs. Through strategic community collaborations, we also offer our members access to services beyond traditional health care to ensure their safety and well-being. SFHP's commitment to excellence has been recognized consistently by the state, with the Award for Excellence in Quality Care from the California Department of Health Care Services. In a continuous partnership with the San Francisco Department of Public Health, we are also the third-party administrator for Healthy San Francisco and the City Option Program. Today, on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, SFHP honors the history, resilience, and contributions of Indigenous communities. 🌱 In Yelamu (San Francisco), we recognize the Ramaytush Ohlone people as the original and continuous stewards of this land. The Association of the Ramaytush Ohlone keeps their culture and traditions alive through ongoing community work, including restoring watersheds, and working to address the health needs of Indigenous people in SF. At SFHP, we are dedicated to creating a healthy community and workplace. When it comes to mental health and work-life balance, different people need different things. To support our staff with the most flexibility, we offer a health and wellness benefit for staff to use as they like – in addition to other benefits, like Employee Assistance counseling. Whether it be a yoga class, mindfulness app, state parks pass, or arts and crafts supplies, this stipend helps SFHP staff take care and take charge of their wellness and mental health. 🔗 Learn more about our employee benefits: https://lnkd.in/gMd9yDEj #WorldMentalHealthDay #WeAreSFHP

Summer is officially over (even though it’s still heating up in the Bay Area) – and our staff made the most of it! 🥾 🌴 ☀️ 🌉 Whether they were hiking through rock arches in Utah, relaxing in Vietnam, or marveling at pyramids in Mexico City, SFHP staff explored, recharged, and spent time with family and friends this summer. But all roads lead back to San Francisco, where our mission and our community is. We’re looking forward to a great rest of the year serving SF with quality health care! For the 3rd week of Latinx Heritage Month, we’re turning the spotlight to Instituto Familiar de la Raza (IFR)! IFR’s goal is to promote and enhance the health and well-being of the Chicano/Latino/Indigena community of San Francisco. They do this through programs like family therapy, care management, HIV testing, support groups and more. 👐 Part of IFR’s work is the idea of “many medicines.” This means that they offer diverse healing approaches, all firmly rooted in culture and community – because health is not one size fits all. Thank you, IFR, for the amazing work you do in SF. Good news: getting a yearly mammogram is quick and can help catch cancer early. This month, remind your patients, friends, and loved ones: schedule your yearly mammogram today! ✔️SFHP covers breast cancer screenings for members and other important kinds of reproductive care.
