Officers from the Schenectady Police Department were proud to join teams from throughout the Capital Region for this year's CDTA Pink Bus Pull, supporting the American Cancer Society. Over 20 teams competed to see who could pull a bus 30 feet the fastest. After fighting hard, we came in second to the Albany Fire Department. Congratulations to this year's winner and thank you to the CDTA for having us and supporting such a great cause.

Schenectady Police Department reposted this
Honored to have been reaccreditation by New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services for another 5 years. Being a NYS Accreditation program recipient demonstrates the commitment Schenectady Police Department officers have in providing the highest level of service and professionalism to our community. All members of the department, sworn and civilian, are to be commended. A special thank you to Mayor Gary R. McCarthy, who continuously provides the executive level support necessary to achieve excellence. All this could not be possible without the support and guidance from DCJS, Deputy Commissioner Michael Bonse and Executive Commissioner Joseph Popcun and their staff. Thank you!

It is with deep sadness that Chief Eric S. Clifford and the Schenectady Police Department announce the passing of retired K9 Flynn, who fell ill over the weekend. K9 Flynn began his service with the department in 2016, working alongside his partner, Detective Kevin Derkowski. Flynn was highly driven, strong-willed and an incredible athlete who loved to work. He retired in 2020 after a distinguished career marked by loyalty and courage. Flynn will be remembered for his dedication, his service to the community, and the vital role he played in keeping Schenectady safe. He was more than a partner—he was a trusted friend and family member. Detective Derkowski would like to thank the staff at Country Valley Veterinary Clinic for their heartfelt compassion during Flynn's final moments. Our thoughts are with Detective Derkowski, Flynn's family, and all who had the honor of serving with him.
